What Zucker Alleged
Zucker played Nicole Walker on Days of Our Lives beginning in 1998. Her February 7, 2024 complaint named Corday Productions, Ken Corday, and Alarr as defendants, and the case was assigned to Judge Kristin S. Escalante.2Trellis Law. Arianne Zucker v. Corday Productions, Inc., et al.
The complaint accused Alarr, who had been the show’s top day-to-day producer since 2015, of pervasive sexual harassment. Zucker alleged that Alarr repeatedly grabbed and tightly hugged her, pressing her breasts against his chest while moaning sexually; that during “dry blocking” of scenes he placed his hands on her waist with his thumbs near her groin while grinning in a sexual manner; and that he told male costars filming intimate scenes with her that he would “love to switch positions” with them.3Deadline. Against the company and Ken Corday, Zucker alleged that they had known about Alarr’s behavior through years of complaints from multiple women and failed to act. She claimed that after she raised concerns, Corday Productions retaliated by cutting her pay, revoking a travel stipend, and writing her character off the show in June 2023. When the company later offered a contract renewal, according to the complaint, it was a “take it or leave it” proposal with no genuine negotiation on pay. She also alleged the show had no intimacy coordinator at the time and that Alarr continued to observe intimate scenes from the control booth even after Sony Pictures Television opened an internal investigation into his conduct.4Deadline. The complaint listed eleven causes of action under California law, including discrimination, harassment, and retaliation under the Fair Employment and Housing Act (Government Code § 12940); whistleblower retaliation under Labor Code § 1102.5; equal pay violations under Labor Code § 1197.5; negligent hiring, supervision, and retention; intentional infliction of emotional distress; wrongful termination in violation of public policy; breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing; and unfair business practices under Business and Professions Code § 17200. How the Defendants Responded
All three defendants denied the allegations. Corday Productions called the claims “without merit,” said it had offered Zucker a renewal with a pay increase, and pointed out that complaints about Alarr had been investigated and had ultimately led to his firing in August 2023.3Deadline. Alarr’s attorney, Robert Barta, argued that an independent two-month investigation had already examined the same conduct and concluded Alarr should keep his role. Barta characterized Zucker as having “aggressively” sought a personal pay raise and more influence over the show during industry-wide cutbacks, and he accused her of “trying to exploit vile stereotypes to denigrate and demean a Black man who was in a position of power,” noting Alarr identified as the only Black director and producer in daytime soap operas.3Deadline. The August 2024 Ruling on Injunctive Relief
Alarr’s team moved to strike Zucker’s request for an injunction against future harassment, arguing that because he was no longer working in entertainment, no such order was warranted. In August 2024, Judge Escalante rejected that argument, finding that the complaint alleged “a long-standing course of conduct” from which a court could infer the behavior would be likely to recur in other jobs. The Settlement

Alarr’s attorney said his client “continues to deny the allegations” and agreed to settle “solely to end the dispute and move forward.”7KTLA.
