Ash Trevino Arrested on Felony Fraud Charges in Texas

Texas social media personality Ashley Lopez-Trevino, known online as Ash Trevino, was arrested on December 17, 2025, on two state jail felony warrants out of Ellis County alleging welfare fraud and healthcare fraud, and was arrested a second time on March 4, 2026, after prosecutors said she violated the terms of her bail.¹²

The Felony Fraud Charges

Venus Police took Trevino, 36, into custody at her home around 7:50 p.m. on December 17, 2025, on two active warrants issued by the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office. She was booked at the Ellis County Jail and released on a $15,000 bond.³

Both warrants are dated November 21, 2025. The welfare fraud count alleges a “continuing course of conduct” between May 1, 2019, and July 1, 2024, in which Trevino used deception to obtain SNAP and Medicaid benefits from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, with the alleged fraud valued between $2,500 and $30,000. The healthcare fraud count alleges she knowingly concealed or failed to disclose additional income to receive Medicaid benefits she was not entitled to or that exceeded her eligibility.⁴³

Each count is a state jail felony under Texas law. A conviction on either could carry six months to two years in a state jail facility, served without early parole, plus a fine of up to $10,000.³ The charging documents have not specified what income Trevino allegedly failed to report.

The Second Arrest and New Bail Terms

On February 24, 2026, prosecutors asked the court to hold Trevino’s bond insufficient, alleging she had consumed alcohol at a birthday party and purchased alcohol at a restaurant in violation of her bail conditions. The state reportedly confirmed the violations after Trevino posted photos of both incidents to her own social media accounts.⁵ A judge issued a commitment order, and she was booked back into the Ellis County Jail on March 4, 2026.²

She was released the same day, but under significantly tighter terms. Her bond was reset at $25,000, and she is now subject to:

An 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. curfew enforced by ankle monitor.
A ban on possessing, purchasing, or consuming alcohol, controlled substances, or firearms.
A ban on entering any establishment that primarily serves alcohol.
Enrollment in a pretrial supervision program with random drug and alcohol testing.
A prohibition on posting about her case on social media.⁵

Trevino’s legal team has denied that she violated her bail conditions.²

Where the Case Stands

As of the most recent reporting in March 2026, no trial date has been set, and it has not been confirmed whether formal charges have been filed by indictment or information beyond the original warrants. No plea has been entered.² Trevino has said publicly that she has retained an attorney and intends to fight the charges, though her lawyer’s name has not been disclosed in reporting.⁴ She remains free on the $25,000 bond under the tightened conditions above.

Who Ash Trevino Is

Trevino is a Texas-based content creator with more than 500,000 followers across Instagram and Snapchat, and built much of that audience through content about her relationships with incarcerated men, drawing the online label “prison wife.”¹ FOX 4 described her as a “polarizing figure” whose posts had generated backlash well before the fraud charges.³ The scale of that following is part of why the case has drawn attention, since the alleged concealment period overlaps with years she was actively producing paid online content.
