The Ashley Parham lawsuit against Diddy was a federal civil case in which a California woman accused Sean “Diddy” Combs and more than a dozen associates of drugging and gang-raping her at a home in Orinda, California, in March 2018. What Parham Alleged
Parham filed her complaint on October 15, 2024, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. She said the assault grew out of a FaceTime call earlier that year in which she told Combs she believed he was connected to the murder of rapper Tupac Shakur. About a month later, on March 23, 2018, a man named Shane Pearce allegedly invited Parham to his apartment on Loma Vista Drive in Orinda, claiming he needed help opening cancer medications. Once she arrived, Combs allegedly entered with an entourage that included his associate Kristina Khorram and a bodyguard. Parham alleged Combs threatened her with a knife, that she was sexually assaulted by multiple people, that she was forced to swallow an unknown pill, and that she was told she would disappear if she reported the incident. Parham said she contacted the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office that night but did not name Combs at the time. She went to a hospital in April 2018 for a rape kit and filed reports with the Walnut Creek and Orinda police departments.3NewsNation. Parham v. The Amended Complaint and New Defendants
The original suit named Combs, Khorram, Pearce, and several unnamed people. In March 2025, Parham filed an amended complaint that expanded the list to more than a dozen defendants, adding NFL wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., comedian Drew Desbordes (known as Druski), Combs’ mother Janice Combs, and others.5CourtListener. Beckham said publicly that he had “never met the person that filed the suit” and was “not anywhere near Orinda, CA at that time.”7ABC 33/40. The Druski Sanctions Ruling
Desbordes filed a Rule 11 motion for sanctions, and his attorneys turned over debit card and phone records they said proved he was in Georgia on the date of the alleged assault. Judge Rita Lin denied the sanctions motion, ruling that Parham’s attorneys had a “reasonable factual basis” for naming him at the time, given witness reports and a photo lineup identification. But she held that continuing to pursue the claims against him after seeing the alibi evidence was different, and ordered Parham’s counsel to explain by September 9, 2025, why sanctions should not be imposed for maintaining claims that no longer had an “objectively reasonable factual basis,” or to dismiss Desbordes voluntarily.9Reason. Why the Case Was Dismissed
The suit ran into procedural problems from the start. Parham did not serve the defendants within the 90-day window required by federal rules. In January 2025, Judge Lin warned that the case would be dismissed if service was not completed by February 14, 2025, and later granted an extension. Parham’s attorney cited the difficulty of serving Combs in federal custody, telling the court that Combs could “refuse mail in jail.”10KTVU. On September 30, 2025, the court granted a motion by attorneys Ariel Mitchell and Shawn Perez to withdraw as Parham’s counsel. The withdrawal followed the show-cause order tied to the Desbordes sanctions issue, and Judge Lin noted the lawyers’ “original bases for withdrawal remain legitimate” without spelling out the specific reasons. Parham missed that deadline. On December 16, 2025, Judge Lin dismissed the case for failure to prosecute under Rule 41(b). The dismissal was without prejudice, meaning she is not barred from refiling if she obtains counsel and meets other legal requirements.1USA Today. How This Relates to Combs’ Criminal Case
The Parham lawsuit was a civil matter and had no documented connection to Combs’ separate federal criminal prosecution in the Southern District of New York, which involved different accusers and different time periods. In that case, a Manhattan jury in 2025 acquitted Combs of racketeering and sex trafficking but convicted him on two Mann Act counts for transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution.
