- Second false alarm: warning only, no fine.
- Third false alarm: $50, waived if you complete the city’s alarm user awareness class.
- Fourth false alarm: $100.
- Fifth and sixth false alarms: $200 each.
- Seventh and each additional: $500.
The 365-day window rolls with each incident rather than resetting on a calendar date. If your first false alarm hits in March, that is when the clock starts for that one; three activations spread across 14 months would not overlap, and each would begin its own count.
The Extra $150 If You’re Not Registered

Late Payment and Ignoring a Citation

Ignoring the citation is worse than paying late. How to Dispute a Citation
You have 14 days from the date printed on the mailed citation to file a dispute, and disputes are heard by the Atlanta Municipal Court rather than by administrative review alone.7CryWolf Services. Include a copy of the citation, your name, the alarm system location, the date of the false alarm, your permit number, and a written explanation of why the citation was issued in error. How to Avoid the Fines in the First Place
Most false alarms trace back to the same causes: fumbled disarm codes, pets tripping motion sensors, loose doors and windows that rattle in wind, and aging equipment with failing sensors. Make sure everyone in the household knows the code and the cancellation procedure with your monitoring company. Ask your installer about pet-immune motion detectors that ignore movement below a set weight.
