AT&T 2 Settlement Class: Eligibility, Payouts, and Status

The AT&T 2 settlement class covers AT&T account owners, line users, and end users whose call and text metadata was illegally downloaded in the July 2024 breach tied to a third-party Snowflake cloud workspace. It is one of two classes within a $177 million class action settlement in In Re: AT&T Inc. Customer Data Security Breach Litigation, and $28 million of that fund is set aside for AT&T 2 class members.¹ Eligible claimants can receive up to $2,500 for documented losses, or a pro-rata cash share if they made no loss-based claim. As of April 2026, the court has held a final approval hearing but has not yet ruled, and no payments have gone out.²

Who Is in the AT&T 2 Class

The AT&T 2 class is defined as all AT&T account owners or line and end users whose call records were involved in the incident AT&T publicly disclosed on July 12, 2024.¹ That reaches roughly 109 to 110 million wireless customers, including customers of mobile virtual network operators that use AT&T’s network.³

The stolen data covered call and text message metadata from May 1 through October 31, 2022, plus a small number of records from January 2, 2023.⁴ That included telephone numbers, records of which numbers a customer interacted with, call counts, aggregate call durations, and, for a small subset, cell site identification numbers that can indicate approximate location.² The content of calls and texts, names, Social Security numbers, and credit card information were not part of this breach. The actual theft happened between April 14 and April 25, 2024.⁵

Kroll Settlement Administration identified class members from AT&T’s records and sent notice by email (from attsettlement@e.emailksa.com) and postcard beginning in August 2025.⁶ If you received that notice, you’re in the class.

What AT&T 2 Class Members Can Receive

The AT&T 2 class shares a $28 million fund and offers two ways to be paid.¹

The first is a documented-loss payment of up to $2,500 for financial losses traceable to the breach that occurred on or after April 14, 2024. Claims must be backed by receipts or other records that the claimant did not prepare themselves.⁶

The second is a Tier 3 pro-rata cash payment. Account owners in the AT&T 2 class who submitted a valid claim without claiming a specific loss share what remains of the $28 million fund after administrative costs, attorneys’ fees, and service awards are deducted.¹ Because nearly every AT&T cellular customer was affected, that $28 million is being divided among a very large group. One report noted that in settlements at this scale, non-documented individual payouts often end up under $30.⁷ The exact figure depends on how many valid claims came in and what the court approves in fees and costs.

The AT&T 2 fund is non-reversionary: any money not paid out in claims does not go back to AT&T. The relief is cash only. There is no credit monitoring or identity protection component. AT&T entered the settlement without admitting liability or wrongdoing.¹

If You Were Hit by Both Breaches

The larger case also includes an AT&T 1 class, which covers a separate breach announced on March 30, 2024. That breach exposed names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, account passcodes, and billing account numbers for about 7.6 million current and 65.4 million former AT&T account holders, from a data set posted on the dark web.⁸⁹ The AT&T 1 class draws from a separate $149 million fund and allows documented-loss claims up to $5,000.

People whose data was compromised in both incidents are treated as overlap class members and could file claims against both funds, for a combined documented-loss cap of $7,500.¹⁰ Each claim needed its own supporting records, and the same loss cannot be counted against both classes.

Where the Settlement Stands Now

All of the participation deadlines have passed. The exclusion and objection deadline was November 17, 2025, and the claim filing deadline was December 18, 2025. Claim forms are no longer available, and Kroll is processing the claims that came in on time.²

Judge Ada E. Brown of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas held a six-hour final approval hearing on January 15, 2026, which included argument over the class structure, the opt-out policy, and roughly $59 million in attorneys’ fees requested by plaintiffs’ counsel.¹¹ As of an April 23, 2026, update on the settlement website, no ruling has been issued, and there is no known timeline for a decision.²

No money will be distributed until the court grants final approval and any appeals are resolved.² If you filed a claim, watch the email address you used at telecomdatasettlement.com for administrator updates. If you did not file by the December 18, 2025 deadline and did not exclude yourself, you remain bound by the settlement’s release but are not eligible for a payment from the AT&T 2 fund.
