If you filed an AT&T settlement claim, no money has gone out yet. The $177 million class action settlement resolving two 2024 data breaches is still awaiting final approval from Judge Ada Brown of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, who held the final approval hearing on January 15, 2026. The deadline to file passed on December 18, 2025, and the settlement administrator is now processing roughly 4.38 million submitted claims.
Where the Settlement Stands Now
Judge Brown granted preliminary approval on June 20, 2025.1U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas. Even after Judge Brown signs off, payments will not go out immediately. The settlement terms require that any appeal period expire and that all claims be fully processed before checks are issued.2Telecom Data Settlement. How Much You Can Expect
The $177 million is split into two non-reversionary funds tied to the two breaches: $149 million for the dark web breach and $28 million for the Snowflake cloud breach.4Settlement Agreement (PDF). AT&T Settlement Agreement Every tier payment is pro rata, so what you actually receive depends on how many valid claims come in and what gets deducted from the fund for attorneys’ fees, administration, service awards, and taxes.
Dark Web Breach Fund
Tier 1 claimants, whose Social Security numbers were exposed, receive five times the Tier 2 payment. Tier 2 covers class members whose other personal data was exposed but not their Social Security numbers. On top of the tier payments, documented losses traceable to the breach and dated 2019 or later can be reimbursed up to $5,000 per person.
Snowflake Breach Fund
Tier 3 provides a pro rata share to eligible account owners. Documented losses on or after April 14, 2024, that trace to this breach are reimbursable up to $2,500. You cannot take both a Tier 3 payment and a documented-loss payment from this fund.
If you were affected by both breaches, you could file against both funds, and combined documented losses can reach up to $7,500.5Time. Who Qualified
Two classes were established under the settlement:
- The AT&T 1 Settlement Class covered all living U.S. residents whose personal information (names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, account passcodes, or billing numbers) was part of the dataset AT&T announced on March 30, 2024. Both current and former customers were included.
- The AT&T 2 Settlement Class covered account owners and line or end users whose phone numbers, interaction counts, call durations, or cell site data were part of the incident announced on July 12, 2024.4Settlement Agreement (PDF). AT&T Settlement Agreement

The settlement contains no California sub-class and no enhanced benefits under state privacy laws.4Settlement Agreement (PDF). AT&T Settlement Agreement
Can You Still File?
No. The filing deadline was extended once, from November 18, 2025, to December 18, 2025, and it has passed.8Pensacola News Journal. Deadline AT&T Data Breach Settlement Application The deadlines to opt out or object were November 17, 2025, and were not extended. Claims filed online at telecomdatasettlement.com or by mail before December 18 are what the administrator is processing now.

What the Two Breaches Involved
The dark web breach, disclosed on March 30, 2024, exposed data on roughly 73 million people: 7.6 million current and 65.4 million former customers. Compromised fields included names, mailing and email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and encrypted account passcodes. The Snowflake breach, disclosed on July 12, 2024, involved unauthorized downloads of call and text metadata from a third-party cloud platform. The stolen records covered phone numbers, interaction counts, aggregate call durations, and cell site identification numbers for roughly 109 to 110 million wireless customers, spanning May 1 through October 31, 2022, plus a small number from January 2, 2023. Other AT&T Settlements This Is Not
Two older AT&T class actions come up in the same searches and are not part of this payout. A $60 million Federal Trade Commission settlement in 2019 covered data-throttling claims on “unlimited” plans; the FTC distributed $52 million in 2020 and sent another $6.3 million to former customers in April 2024.13Federal Trade Commission.
