Where the Settlement Stands
The $177 million deal resolves consolidated class action claims over two AT&T breaches disclosed in 2024, brought together as In re AT&T Inc. What Has to Happen Before Payments Go Out
Three things stand between the current status and any check arriving.

Third, Kroll Settlement Administration LLC, the court-appointed administrator, has to finish reviewing and validating the 4.38 million submitted claims before payments issue.2U.S. District Court, Northern District of Texas. Also pending: the court has not yet ruled on the roughly $59 million in attorneys’ fees requested by class counsel. The Lanier team (AT&T 1 class counsel) asked for about $49.67 million in fees plus up to $564,792 in costs; the Ostrow team (AT&T 2 class counsel) asked for about $9.33 million plus up to $231,438 in costs. How Much You Can Expect
The settlement is split into two non-reversionary funds, so leftover money stays with claimants rather than reverting to AT&T.
- The AT&T 1 Fund holds $149 million for people affected by the March 2024 breach. Documented loss cash payments are capped at $5,000, and remaining money is paid out through tiered cash payments. - The AT&T 2 Fund holds $28 million for people affected by the July 2024 breach. Documented loss claims are capped at $2,500. Actual payouts will be much lower. Plaintiffs’ attorneys acknowledged at the final approval hearing that total payouts would likely fall well below those maximums given the claim volume and the deductions taken first.3New Haven Register. The tiered structure means claimants with documented losses or exposed Social Security numbers will receive more, and those with lesser exposure will receive less.
