AT&T Settlement Check Status: Case Update and Payout Amounts

If you’re trying to find your AT&T settlement check status, no payments from the $177 million data breach settlement have been issued yet. The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas held the Final Approval Hearing on January 15, 2026, and has not yet issued a ruling. Where the Case Stands

The consolidated litigation, In Re: AT&T Inc. Customer Data Security Breach Litigation (MDL No. 3:24-md-03114-E), is before Judge Ada Brown.5U.S. District Court, Northern District of Texas. The Final Approval Hearing took place on January 15, 2026. As of mid-2026, the court has not issued its decision.7Telecom Data Settlement. What Comes Out of the Fund First

Plaintiffs’ counsel have asked Judge Brown for roughly $59 million in fees plus about $796,000 in litigation costs. The request splits between the Lanier Law Firm at approximately $49.67 million and Kopelowitz Ostrow Ferguson Weiselberg Gilbert at about $9.33 million.9New Haven Register. AT&T Data Breach Settlement Attorney Fees Those fees, administrative costs, and any court-approved service awards come out of the $177 million before class members are paid. Individual payment amounts depend on how many valid claims Kroll approves and how large those deductions turn out to be.

How Much You Could Receive

The fund is split between the two data incidents: $149 million for the first breach and $28 million for the second.10ABC7. AT&T Data Breach $177 Million Settlement Maximum documented-loss payments are:

  • Up to $5,000 for losses tied to the first breach (announced March 2024)
  • Up to $2,500 for losses tied to the second breach (announced July 2024)

Claimants who did not document specific losses can still receive a tier cash payment, which is a pro rata share of whatever remains after documented claims, fees, and costs. The tiers are weighted: people whose Social Security numbers were exposed in the first breach (Tier 1) receive five times the payment of those whose other personal data was exposed without a Social Security number (Tier 2). A third tier covers account owners affected by the second breach.12Clarion-Ledger. AT&T Data Throttling Refunds (FTC)

Separate from the class action, this is a Federal Trade Commission matter arising from a 2019 settlement in which AT&T agreed to pay $60 million over allegations that it slowed unlimited-data customers’ speeds. The FTC distributed $52 million in 2020 and sent an additional $6.3 million to 267,734 former customers in April 2024.13FTC. AT&T Mobility Wireless Data Sales Tax Settlement

This class action (In Re: AT&T Mobility Wireless Data Services Sales Tax Litigation, MDL No. 2147) covers customers who paid internet-access taxes on smartphone data, laptop connect cards, or pay-per-use data between November 2005 and September 2010. It is final, and checks are being mailed on a rolling basis as state and local taxing jurisdictions refund money back into the fund.
