AT&T Settlement Date: Payment Delays, Amounts, and Claim Status

There is no confirmed payment date for the AT&T data breach settlement. As of mid-2026, U.S. District Judge Ada Brown has not issued a ruling on final approval of the $177 million deal, and until she does, no money can be distributed to claimants. Why Payments Haven’t Gone Out Yet

  • The court has to grant final approval of the settlement.
  • The window for any appeals of that approval has to close.
  • Kroll has to finish reviewing every claim form submitted by the December 18, 2025 deadline.

Only the third of those is under way. Claims processing is active, but the first step, final approval, is still pending.

What Happened at the Final Approval Hearing

The final approval hearing was held on January 15, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. Central Time, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, where the litigation is consolidated as MDL 3:24-md-03114 before Judge Brown.2U.S. District Court, Northern District of Texas. A judge taking months to issue a written ruling after a final approval hearing is not unusual, but it does push back every downstream date. Even once the ruling comes, an appeal by any objector can freeze payments for months more.

How You’ll Be Paid

If the settlement is approved and survives any appeals, claimants will receive their payment by direct deposit or paper check, depending on the information they entered on the claim form.3Mashable. How Much Claimants Can Expect

The $177 million total is divided into two separate funds: $149 million for the first breach (disclosed by AT&T in March 2024, involving Social Security numbers and other personal data of about 73 million current and former customers) and $28 million for the second breach (disclosed in July 2024, involving call and text records for nearly all wireless customers).5CNN. Claimants chose one of two payment tracks when they filed:

  • Documented loss payments of up to $5,000 for the first breach and up to $2,500 for the second, capped at a combined $7,500, for anyone who submitted proof of financial harm tied to the breaches.5CNN. AT&T Data Leak Settlement
  • Tiered pro rata payments for anyone without documented losses. Tier 1 (first-breach victims whose Social Security numbers were exposed) is set at five times the value of Tier 2 (first-breach victims whose Social Security numbers were not exposed). What a tiered claimant actually receives depends on how many valid claims Kroll accepts and what remains in each fund after attorneys’ fees, administrative costs, and service awards to the named plaintiffs are subtracted. Deadlines That Have Already Passed

If you have not already filed, it is too late. The claim filing deadline was December 18, 2025, extended once from an original date of November 18, 2025.9NBC Chicago.
