There is no confirmed payout date for the AT&T settlement. The $177 million data breach class action is waiting on a final approval ruling from Judge Ada E. Brown in the Northern District of Texas, and until she signs off, appeal windows close, and the settlement administrator finishes reviewing claims, no checks can be sent.
Where Things Stand With Final Approval
The court held a six-hour final approval hearing on January 15, 2026, after the December 18, 2025 claim deadline passed.1Greenwich Time. When the court granted preliminary approval on June 20, 2025, AT&T said publicly that it expected final approval by the end of 2025 and payments “early next year.”3Reuters. $177 Million AT&T Data Breach Settlement Wins U.S. Court Approval That timeline has slipped, and the company has not published a revised one.
What Has to Happen Before Payments Start

- The court must grant final approval of the settlement.
- The time for any appeals must expire, or filed appeals must be resolved.
- Kroll must finish reviewing all submitted claim forms.
An earlier appeal from class members who wanted to arbitrate individually was dismissed by the Fifth Circuit in October 2025, so that particular avenue is closed. Only 15 formal objections and 1,556 opt-outs were filed against a class of roughly 97 million people.5PACER Monitor. The Attorneys’ Fees Fight
One live issue that surfaced at the January hearing is fees. Plaintiffs’ counsel asked for $59 million, a full third of the fund. The Lanier Law Firm led by W. Mark Lanier requested about $49.67 million plus costs, and Kopelowitz Ostrow Ferguson Weiselberg Gilbert requested about $9.33 million plus costs.1Greenwich Time. What You Could Get When Payments Do Arrive
The $177 million is split into two non-reversionary pools: $149 million for the 2019-and-earlier breach disclosed in March 2024, and $28 million for the Snowflake-related breach disclosed in July 2024. Claimants who documented out-of-pocket losses can receive up to $5,000 from the first breach fund and up to $2,500 from the second, for a combined maximum of $7,500 if both breaches affected you.6Yahoo Finance. Within the first-breach pool, people whose Social Security numbers were exposed receive five times what other affected people receive. About 4.38 million claims had been filed by late December 2025 against an eligible class of roughly 96.7 million.6Yahoo Finance. The settlement documents and available reporting also do not yet specify how funds will be delivered, whether by mailed check, electronic transfer, or another method. Don’t Confuse This With the Data Throttling Refunds
If you’re searching for an AT&T payout and finding conflicting information, some of it may refer to a different case. The FTC’s $60 million settlement over AT&T throttling data speeds on “unlimited” plans was resolved in 2019 and paid out already. AT&T issued $52 million in credits and refunds in 2020, and the FTC sent an additional $6.3 million to former customers in April 2024.9FTC. The FCC also reached a separate consent decree with AT&T over the 2024 breaches, with a $13 million civil penalty and required cybersecurity upgrades.10FCC.
