Why No Payment Date Has Been Set
The official settlement website, updated April 23, 2026, states plainly: “The Court continues to consider whether it will approve the Settlement” and “We do not know how long it will take for the Court to make its decision.”1Telecom Data Settlement. An AT&T spokesperson previously estimated that payments would arrive “early” in 2026. That estimate assumed a faster ruling than has actually happened. Three Things That Must Happen Before Checks Go Out

- The court must grant final approval of the settlement.
- The window for appeals must expire, or any appeals filed must be resolved.
- All claims must be reviewed and processed by the settlement administrator.

Appeals are the biggest wild card in the timeline. If anyone appeals the approval order, distribution stops until the appellate process finishes, and that alone can add many months or longer. What Claimants Should Do While Waiting
Nothing needs to be filed or submitted right now. The claims deadline has passed and Kroll is processing what it has. The settlement administrator advises claimants to keep their contact information current so payment can reach them once distribution begins. Expect Smaller Payments Than the Headlines Suggested
The advertised maximums were up to $5,000 for documented losses from the March 2024 breach, up to $2,500 for documented losses from the July 2024 Snowflake-related breach, and up to $7,500 combined for people affected by both with separate, non-overlapping documentation.7CBS News. With 4.38 million claims filed and most claimants relying on the pro rata share rather than documented losses, individual payments for undocumented claims are likely to be modest.
Don’t Confuse This With the AT&T Data Throttling Refund
A separate, unrelated AT&T settlement sometimes gets mixed up with this one. In 2019, the Federal Trade Commission required AT&T to pay $60 million for misleading customers on “unlimited” data plans by secretly slowing their speeds. The FTC distributed $52 million in 2020 and sent an additional $6.3 million in April 2024 to former customers who had filed claims.11FTC.
