The site also does not offer an individual claim-status lookup. There is no portal to log in and see whether your claim was approved, denied, or is still being reviewed. Why No Money Has Been Paid Yet
The case, In Re: AT&T Inc. Under the settlement terms, distribution can only begin after three things happen: the court grants final approval, the appeals window closes, and Kroll finishes reviewing every submitted claim.1Telecom Data Settlement. The practical answer for anyone waiting: no realistic payout date exists yet. Watch the settlement website for a final approval order and a distribution schedule. Those are the two updates that will change the picture.
What Payments Will Look Like
The $177 million fund is split into two pools tied to the two breaches: $149 million for the first class (the March 2024 breach involving names, contact information, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, account numbers, and passcodes) and $28 million for the second class (the July 2024 breach involving call and text metadata).5Mashable. Payments run on two tiers. Claimants who submitted documentation of financial losses traceable to the breaches can receive up to $5,000 from the first pool and up to $2,500 from the second, capped at a combined $7,500.5Mashable. Other AT&T Settlements People Confuse With This One
Two other AT&T-related payouts circulate online under similar names. Neither has anything to do with telecomdatasettlement.com or the 2024 data breach case.
The first is the AT&T Mobility wireless data services sales tax settlement, In re AT&T Mobility Wireless Data Services Sales Tax Litigation, MDL No. 2147, resolved in 2011. It concerned AT&T’s collection of state and local internet-access taxes in alleged violation of the Internet Tax Freedom Act. That case is administered at attmsettlement.com, and refund checks continue to go out on a rolling basis as individual state taxing authorities finish their processing. The second is the FTC data throttling refund program. In 2019, AT&T agreed to pay $60 million to resolve Federal Trade Commission allegations that it slowed the speeds of unlimited-data-plan customers without adequate disclosure. The FTC distributed $52 million in bill credits and checks in 2020 and sent an additional $6.3 million to about 267,000 former customers in April 2024.9Federal Trade Commission. If a website, letter, or email about an “AT&T settlement” does not point to telecomdatasettlement.com and does not name Kroll Settlement Administration, it is about a different case or is not legitimate. For the 2024 data breach payout, the site and administrator above are the only sources that matter, and the next real update will be the court’s ruling on final approval.
