What You Can Claim
Class members can choose between two types of payment, and you can claim both if they apply.
Up to $5,000 for Documented Losses
If you paid money out of pocket because of the breach, you can claim reimbursement of up to $5,000. Covered losses include costs tied to fraud, identity theft, or credit monitoring. You’ll need to submit proof, such as invoices or receipts, showing what you spent and how it connects to the breach.5ClassAction.org. $1.02M Avis Settlement Resolves Class Action Lawsuit Over August 2024 Data Breach
Pro Rata Cash Payment
Every class member who files a valid claim can also receive an equal share of whatever remains in the fund after out-of-pocket claims, administration costs, attorney fees, and service awards are paid. No documentation is required for this payment.1Avis Data Security Settlement. Home
Both categories are subject to pro rata adjustment if the total value of valid claims exceeds the fund. In plain terms, if too many people claim large amounts, individual payments shrink so the fund can cover everyone.
