The FasTrak Flex Tag Is Not Optional
A regular FasTrak tag will not get you the carpool rate. You need the Flex version, which has a three-position switch on its face. - Afternoon: 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Clean Air Vehicles No Longer Get Solo Access
This one trips up a lot of drivers. Before October 2025, vehicles with California Clean Air Vehicle decals could use Bay Bridge carpool lanes without meeting the occupancy rule. That privilege is gone. Toll Evasion Penalties
Failing to pay a bridge toll triggers escalating notices on a separate track. Miss the due date on your initial invoice and you get a notice of toll evasion adding $5 per crossing.
