What to Do If Bounce AI Is Trying to Collect From You
Bounce AI is a debt collector, so the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act applies. Within five days of first contact, a collector must send you validation information: who they are, who the original creditor is, the amount owed, and how to dispute the debt. If you send a written dispute within 30 days, the collector must stop collecting until it provides written verification.8Federal Trade Commission. Debt Collection FAQs
Send disputes in writing, and use certified mail so you have proof of delivery. If the debt is not yours or you believe it is past the statute of limitations, say so in the dispute. A collector cannot legally sue on a debt it knows is time-barred, but be careful: a partial payment or a written acknowledgment can restart the clock.8Federal Trade Commission. Debt Collection FAQs
If you are actually sued, answer the complaint by the deadline on the summons. Ignoring it lets the collector get a default judgment, which can lead to wage garnishment. You can also send a written request telling Bounce AI to stop contacting you, and you can file complaints with the CFPB, the FTC, or your state attorney general. The CFPB’s consumer line is (855) 411-2372.9Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Debt Collection
The FDCPA also lets you sue. A consumer has one year from the violation to file in federal or state court and can recover actual damages, attorney’s fees, and up to $1,000 in statutory damages even without proving a specific financial loss.8Federal Trade Commission. Debt Collection FAQs
