Brandon Lindsey, the Shreveport man who beat his girlfriend Heaven Weed to death in March 2023, was sentenced on December 8, 2025, to mandatory life in prison at hard labor without the possibility of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. The Night Heaven Weed Was Beaten
On the night of March 1, 2023, Lindsey and 23-year-old Heaven Weed went to a Shreveport nightclub together, then returned to her duplex on Highland Avenue, where Lindsey had been living for about a month. GPS and cell phone records placed Lindsey at the residence from roughly 1:30 a.m. until 11:07 a.m. on March 2. Around 8:00 p.m., Weed’s mother, Chasity Weed, drove over after being unable to reach her daughter. She found Heaven unconscious. Lindsey helped carry her to the car, told Chasity “she’s messed up,” and left. Weed was so stiff on arrival at Ochsner LSU Health that it took several emergency personnel to move her from the car into treatment. Doctors found a closed-head traumatic brain injury with significant brain swelling, fractured ribs, lacerations, and bruising over her body. She was sedated and never regained consciousness. The Evidence Against Him
When Shreveport police entered the Highland Avenue duplex, they noticed a strong odor of bleach and other cleaning products, including Clorox wipes and Fabuloso. Blood spatter marked the living room, kitchen, and pantry, and there were multiple spots where blood appeared to have been wiped away. A mattress topper, a pillow, and a towel in the washing machine all tested positive for Weed’s blood. At trial, which opened October 28, 2025, prosecutors combined the physical evidence with nightclub surveillance video, the GPS and phone data putting Lindsey at the home throughout the assault, and medical testimony about Weed’s injuries.9Shreveport-Bossier Advocate. A former girlfriend of Lindsey testified to years of abuse. She said Lindsey had given her black eyes, fractured her ribs, and broken her jaw, that she needed dental implants because of damage to her teeth, and that she suffered seizures from repeated head injuries. She described being dragged by her hair, kicked in the head, and punched in the face.10KTAL. Under Louisiana Revised Statutes 14:30.1, a second-degree murder conviction carries a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment at hard labor without the benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.11FindLaw. Heaven Leane Weed was born January 19, 2000, in Shreveport. She was the first person in her immediate family to graduate from college, earning an associate’s degree in general studies from Bossier Parish Community College, and she was working at Bally’s Casino in Shreveport when she was killed.14Boone Funeral Home.
