Brittney Watson Charged With Murder in Birmingham Shooting

Brittney Watson, a 26-year-old from Brighton, Alabama, is facing a murder charge in Birmingham after prosecutors say she shot and killed 30-year-old Anson Quandarius Henderson on the porch of his Collegeville home on November 8, 2025. Watson is also charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling. Henderson was the father of children shared with Watson’s sister, Breona Watson, and prosecutors say the shooting followed a domestic dispute between the couple earlier that morning.¹

What Happened That Morning

The shooting was preceded by an argument between Henderson and Breona Watson at Henderson’s home in the 3200 block of 32nd Street North. Breona Watson told police Henderson grabbed her by the hair and pulled her to the ground, though a detective later testified that surveillance video of the confrontation did not show a physical assault. Breona Watson left the house, and her mother, Angela Watson, then called Brittney Watson about what had happened.¹

Within minutes, Brittney Watson arrived at Henderson’s residence in a black Toyota Camry. According to an eyewitness account cited by prosecutors, she stepped out of the car, said “Oh you think you’re big and you’re bad,” and opened fire while Henderson stood on his front porch. Henderson was struck multiple times and collapsed. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.²

Officers were already headed to the address on reports of the domestic altercation when they heard the gunfire. They stopped Watson’s Camry about a block and a half away and detained her.³ Investigators recovered three shell casings from the scene, and forensic analysis matched them to a firearm seized from her car. Surveillance footage captured the Camry speeding away as Henderson fell.¹

The Charges

Watson was formally arrested on Sunday, November 9, 2025, and charged with murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling. She was initially held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail.⁴

Under Alabama law, discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling is a Class A felony when the structure is occupied at the time of the shooting.⁵

Revenge or Warning Shots

Jefferson County Deputy District Attorney Lauren Breland told the court the domestic dispute was already over by the time Brittney Watson arrived, and that her actions were “revenge and retribution” rather than an attempt to protect her sister. Breland said Watson “rolled up to someone’s house and shot a man without provocation on his own front porch.”¹

Defense attorney Emory Anthony said Watson drove to the home because of what the family described as a history of domestic incidents between Henderson and her sister, including allegations that Henderson had previously “jumped on” Breona Watson. Anthony argued that Watson “fired warning shots” and “did not intend to kill anyone,” and said she told officers the same when they stopped her.¹

Detective Eric White testified that neither Breona Watson nor Angela Watson had ever filed a police report or called police about any prior incidents with Henderson.¹

Bond and Release Conditions

Jefferson County Circuit Judge Kandice Pickett found probable cause to believe Watson committed the crime, then granted bond and set it at $150,000. Watson’s release comes with conditions: she must wear an electronic monitor at all times, may leave home only for work, church, meetings with her attorneys, and medical appointments, and is barred from any contact with Henderson’s family.¹ Available reporting does not indicate whether Watson has posted the $150,000 bond or remains in custody.
