Brock Lesnar is not a defendant in any lawsuit. His name appears repeatedly in a federal sex trafficking suit filed by former WWE employee Janel Grant against Vince McMahon and WWE, which alleges McMahon used Grant as a “sexual pawn” to keep Lesnar under contract in 2021. The Brock Lesnar lawsuit connection is that and only that: Lesnar is named as a non-party figure in someone else’s case. He has not been sued, has not been charged with any crime, and has not filed or issued any public response.
Is Brock Lesnar a Defendant?
No. The Grant case, filed January 25, 2024, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut (Case No. 3:24-cv-00090), names only Vince McMahon, WWE, and former talent relations head John Laurinaitis.1CourtListener. In the original January 2024 complaint, Lesnar was not identified by name. He was described only as a “world-famous athlete and former UFC Heavyweight Champion.”4CBS Sports. What the Complaint Says About Lesnar
The lawsuit alleges McMahon used Grant “as a sexual pawn to entice world-famous wrestling talent and to keep Brock Lesnar under contract with WWE.” According to the amended complaint, McMahon told Grant that Lesnar would be their next “playmate,” directed her to create personalized pornographic content for him, and shared photos of her with him, remarking that Lesnar “likes what he sees.”6The Athletic. Grant expanded these allegations in a 40-page affidavit filed April 1, 2026. She claimed McMahon “mercilessly” beat her in July 2021 to “prepare” her for a sexual encounter with Lesnar, describing conduct that included pinning her down, dragging her, slapping her, and pulling out her hair.7Yahoo Sports. The affidavit also alleges direct contact between Lesnar and Grant. Grant stated that Lesnar contacted her in late 2021 by text message using the alias “Polish Joe,” requested a nude photo, and told her he wanted her to travel to Chicago for a Monday Night Raw taping. According to the filing, Lesnar reacted with “rage” when she mentioned working in Talent Relations, saying he “hates Talent Relations, especially Johnny [Laurinaitis].”8POST Wrestling. How the Case Affected Lesnar’s WWE Career
Lesnar’s last WWE appearance before Grant filed her suit came at SummerSlam 2023. When the complaint arrived in January 2024, WWE’s legal team pulled him from all programming. He had been scheduled for the 2024 Royal Rumble and a WrestleMania 40 storyline with Gunther; those plans were scrapped and Bron Breakker took his Royal Rumble spot.11Yahoo Sports. Lesnar was absent for over 18 months. He returned at SummerSlam on August 3, 2025, at MetLife Stadium, delivering his signature “F-5” to John Cena following the Cena–Cody Rhodes match. WWE’s legal team had internally cleared the return roughly four weeks earlier, and the company canceled the SummerSlam post-show press conference, preventing questions to Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque.13Sports Illustrated. Where the Underlying Case Stands
The case that names Lesnar has shifted direction. Grant paused the civil suit in May 2024 for six months at the Department of Justice’s request while federal prosecutors ran their own investigation into McMahon; that criminal probe was dropped in February 2025 without charges.15New York Post. On June 11, 2026, Grant, McMahon, and WWE jointly asked the court to move the case out of public litigation and into confidential arbitration. Judge Sarah F. Russell granted the motion the next day and ordered a joint status report by July 10, 2026, with a court hearing in August if the parties could not agree on arbitration terms.17POST Wrestling.
