Yes, you can buy beer on Sunday in Arizona. Licensed retailers can sell beer every Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. the following morning, which is the same window that applies every other day of the week. Arizona has no Sunday-specific delay, no holiday blackout, and no local carve-outs that shorten the day.
Arizona’s Sunday Beer Hours
State law makes it illegal for any on-sale or off-sale retailer to sell alcohol between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.1Arizona Legislature. Arizona Code 4-244 – Unlawful Acts Definition Outside that four-hour overnight gap, sales are legal. Sunday is treated exactly like Tuesday. Picking up a six-pack at a grocery store at 7:00 a.m., grabbing a beer with brunch at 10:00 a.m., or ordering a nightcap at 1:45 a.m. Monday morning are all within the rules.
One narrow exception exists at the late end: the governor can extend closing time to 3:00 a.m. when the state hosts a professional or collegiate national championship sporting event. That aside, 2:00 a.m. is the cutoff every night.
Cities and counties can’t tighten those hours. The type of license a business holds decides what it can sell and whether you drink there or take it home.
- Grocery stores, convenience stores, liquor stores, and beer-and-wine stores hold off-sale licenses and sell packaged beer in sealed, original containers for you to take home.

ID at the Register

- An unexpired driver license from any U.S. state or territory, Washington D.C., or Canada, with a photo and date of birth.

- An unexpired armed forces ID card with a photo and date of birth.

Nothing else counts. A student ID, a work badge, or a photo of your license on your phone won’t get the sale approved.
The Vertical License Trap
Arizona issues vertical-format driver licenses and ID cards to people under 21. Holidays and Election Day
