Casey Blood Indicted on 14 Felony Counts in Alaska

Casey Blood, a 56-year-old Fairbanks nurse practitioner and the sole owner of Alcan Medical Group, was indicted on January 14, 2026, on 14 felony counts tied to the alleged sexual abuse of two minors. He has been held on $750,000 cash-only bail since his January 5 arrest, and his clinic permanently closed at the end of January 2026.¹²

The 14 Felony Counts

Blood was first charged by criminal complaint on January 5, 2026, and arraigned that same day in Fairbanks District Court on two counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor and two counts of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor.¹ A grand jury returned a superseding indictment on January 14 that expanded the case to 14 felony counts:²

Five counts of sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree, unclassified felonies under Alaska law
Eight counts of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree, Class B felonies
One count of distribution of indecent material to minors, a Class C felony

Two minors are identified as alleged victims, and prosecutors say the conduct occurred between 2015 and 2023. Charging documents indicate the alleged abuse happened outside of Blood’s medical practice, and the victims were not identified as patients of Alcan Medical Group.²³

Bail, Counsel, and What Comes Next

At the January 5 arraignment, the court set bail at $750,000 cash-only with additional conditions of release. Blood has remained in custody.³ A preliminary hearing had been set for January 15, but after the grand jury indictment on January 14, the schedule shifted. Superior court arraignment on the expanded indictment was reset for January 21, 2026, with a preliminary hearing on January 22, both at the Rabinowitz Courthouse in Fairbanks.²

Meredith Morse of the Public Defender Agency represents Blood. The case is being prosecuted in Alaska Superior Court in Fairbanks. Fairbanks District Attorney Joe Dallair said in a public statement, “Although Mr. Blood remains innocent unless and until proven guilty, the Fairbanks District Attorney’s Office takes these allegations extremely seriously.”³²

Alcan Medical Group Closed at the End of January

Blood was the sole owner of Alcan Medical Group, a family medicine clinic at 781 Old Richardson Highway in Fairbanks that offered family medicine, men’s and women’s health, and extended care. He was affiliated with Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.¹⁴

After the arrest, the clinic stopped seeing patients and set a permanent closure date of January 31, 2026. A letter to patients cited “unforeseen circumstances” without mentioning the charges. The clinic’s social media accounts were largely deactivated, and its phone lines went to a full voicemail inbox.¹⁵

If you were a patient, Alcan arranged medication refills of up to 90 days and pointed people to Troy Medical, Alpine Medical, and Goldstar Longevity and Wellness. Troy Medical Group publicly confirmed it was accepting former Alcan patients. Alaska Behavioral Health also opened its doors, with primary care medical director Myra Kelly saying, “I’m sure a lot of patients are going to be seeking new primary care providers, so we want to extend the offer to the community that we are happy and willing to serve their needs.”¹³

Who Investigated and How to Reach Them

The Alaska State Troopers investigated the case. Fairbanks District Attorney Joe Dallair directed anyone with information to contact Investigator Albert Bell of the Alaska State Troopers.²

Licensing Action

Available reporting does not say whether the Alaska Board of Nursing has taken any separate disciplinary action against Blood’s nursing license in connection with the criminal charges.
