Cash App Settlement Payment Status and Payout Dates

If you’re checking on your Cash App settlement payment status, the answer depends on which case your claim belongs to. The $15 million data breach settlement (Salinas v. Block) received final approval on March 27, 2025, but as of the April 9, 2026 update on the official settlement site, payments have not gone out yet and are scheduled to be issued “in the coming months.”¹ The separate $12.5 million spam-text settlement (Bottoms v. Block) already paid approved claimants $394.36 each starting February 2, 2026.² And the CFPB’s $175 million enforcement order against Block has not begun paying refunds; no timeline has been announced.³

Data Breach Settlement Payment Status (Salinas v. Block)

This is the case most people are asking about. It resolved claims in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California (Case No. 22-cv-04823) tied to two security incidents: an April 2022 breach that Cash App Investing disclosed, and a second incident that Block disclosed in October 2023.⁴¹ Block denied wrongdoing but agreed to a $15 million fund.⁵

Where things stand now: the settlement administrator, Angeion Group, has finished reviewing deficiency responses and appeals. According to the official site, payments to approved claimants will go out “in the coming months.” No specific mailing date, distribution method, or per-claimant amount has been posted publicly.¹ The “Look Up Notice ID” portal on the settlement website is currently disabled, with a note to check back later.⁶

Out of more than 158 million potential class members, about 668,000 nonduplicate claims were filed and roughly 40,380 were approved.⁴⁷ Claims are closed. If you didn’t file by the deadline, you aren’t in line for a payment from this fund.

How Much Approved Claimants Should Expect

The widely repeated “$2,500” figure is not a guaranteed payout. It’s the maximum reimbursement cap for documented out-of-pocket losses — things like credit monitoring costs, bank fees, and replacement card charges.⁸⁹ The settlement also compensates unrefunded transaction losses and up to three hours of lost time at $25 per hour.

Based on the roughly 40,380 approved claims and an estimated $5.6 million available for distribution, the average payout is expected to fall somewhere between about $138 and $200, with higher amounts going to claimants who documented specific financial harm.⁷

Because the online lookup tool is offline, the only way to check status right now is to contact the administrator directly. Spam Text Settlement Payment Status (Bottoms v. Block)

If you filed a claim as a Washington state resident who received Cash App referral texts, this is a separate case with a very different status. Bottoms v. Block, Inc. (Case No. 2:23-cv-01969-MJP), in the Western District of Washington, covered Washington residents who received a Cash App referral text between November 14, 2019, and August 7, 2025, without clearly consenting in advance. The court granted final approval on December 2, 2025, and Block funded a $12.5 million settlement.¹¹

Payments began on February 2, 2026. Each approved claimant received $394.36, well above the pre-approval estimate of $88 to $147, because fewer claims were filed than expected.²¹¹ Payments went out through PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, virtual prepaid card, or paper check.

As of April 1, 2026, all failed digital payments and returned checks had been reissued as paper checks. Reissue requests submitted by March 18, 2026 were processed and mailed, and most were expected to arrive by April 8, 2026. CFPB Fraud Dispute Refunds ($175 Million Order)

On January 16, 2025, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ordered Block to pay up to $175 million over how Cash App handled fraud disputes and customer service. This is a regulatory enforcement action, not a class action, and the process for consumers is different.¹²

Under the consent order, Block must pay at least $75 million and up to $120 million in direct consumer refunds, plus a $55 million civil penalty to the CFPB’s victims relief fund.¹³ Eligible consumers include people whose unauthorized transfers weren’t properly investigated, who were wrongly denied refunds, or who were denied provisional credits during delayed investigations.¹²

You do not need to file a claim. The CFPB has stated that affected consumers “will not need to take action at this time to obtain redress,” and Cash App has said it will contact eligible consumers directly once more details are available.¹²³ As of mid-2026, Block has not begun distributing these refunds and no timeline has been announced. The CFPB lists the case status as “Post Order/Post Judgment.”¹³
