At sentencing, Judge Leftridge called the conduct “diabolical” and representative of “the very worst of human behavior.” She told Gibson, “You don’t know peace. I pray you never know peace,” and noted that victims continued to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and other mental health conditions. Gibson continued to deny wrongdoing at the hearing.3Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Atlanta Rapper Cash Out Gets Life in Prison After RICO and Sex Trafficking Convictions4Fox 5 Atlanta. The Conduct Behind the Charges

Prosecutors alleged that Gibson used his record label, Pyrez Music Group LLC, together with his status as a rapper and his social media presence, to recruit women with promises of career opportunities and then force them into commercial sex work, with the proceeds turned over to him. The indictment described conduct dating to at least 2013, and prosecutors characterized the enterprise as a “seven-year reign of terror.”5Fox 5 Atlanta. The $40 Million Civil Judgment

Separately from the criminal case, a victim identified in court records as “J.M.” sued Gibson in 2022 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, accusing him of beating her and selling her for sex. The court paused the civil action while the criminal trial proceeded.9CBS News Atlanta. Atlanta Rapper Ca$h Out Ordered to Pay $40 Million to Sex Trafficking Victim

After Gibson failed to respond, U.S. District Judge Thomas W. Thrash Jr. entered a default judgment on January 7, 2026, awarding $10 million in compensatory damages and $30 million in punitive damages, for a total of $40 million. The suit was brought under the federal Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act.9CBS News Atlanta. Atlanta Rapper Ca$h Out Ordered to Pay $40 Million to Sex Trafficking Victim

Georgia RICO and the Atlanta Rap Prosecutions

The case was built under Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, which allows prosecutors to charge individuals as members of a criminal enterprise. The state argued that Gibson, Smith, and Taylor ran Pyrez Music Group as an organized enterprise to facilitate sex trafficking, with the music career and social media functioning as recruitment tools. It was the third RICO prosecution of an Atlanta-area rapper brought by the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office in five years, after cases against Young Thug (Jeffery Williams) and YFN Lucci (Rayshawn Bennett).10Ledger-Enquirer.
