What the Clients Alleged
The plaintiffs, based in Atlanta, said Gold solicited money as investment capital but never invested it. According to the complaint, he ran a Ponzi scheme, paying earlier investors with money from newer ones and keeping the rest.2Urban Belle Mag. The complaint went beyond ordinary fraud. It brought claims for actual fraud, constructive fraud, money had and received, and a violation of the Georgia RICO Act, the state’s civil racketeering statute. The RICO count alleged a pattern of mail and wire fraud carried out through phone calls, electronic communications, and the U.S. mail, using various entities to move money.4Urban Belle Mag. How the Judgment Reached $367,625.20
Gold never answered the lawsuit and did not appear. The judge entered default in January 2026. The award included liquidated damages, treble damages (three times the underlying loss, which Georgia’s civil RICO statute permits), and pre- and post-judgment interest.1Urban Belle Mag. What an Attorney Found Before the Suit
Attorney Symone Redwine, who took up the cause of roughly 20 alleged victims, checked Gold’s public claims against the record. On Basketball Wives, Gold had said the restitution tied to an earlier criminal case was close to $250,000. Court records showed the actual figure was $12,500.5Urban Belle Mag. Redwine also said she could not find assets in Gold’s legal name, despite his claims of being a multimillionaire, and noted that his felony record would bar him from holding the licenses required to legally manage other people’s investments. She offered to represent the alleged victims pro bono if they first filed complaints with the FBI, which are signed under penalty of perjury. About 20 people filed within 72 hours.5Urban Belle Mag. Gold’s Prior Record
Gold, whose legal name is Christian Walden, was convicted of false imprisonment following a jury trial in which he was acquitted of a separate domestic violence battery charge. He was sentenced to 10 years with 7 to serve, ordered to pay $12,500 in restitution, and required to complete a domestic violence intervention program. In September 2024, 15 days of that probation were revoked because he traveled outside Georgia without permission. Around the same time, Cobb County prosecutors charged him with two counts of child abandonment and nonsupport, alleging he had not seen or supported his children in at least 30 days and had stopped paying $2,200 a month under a private agreement.7Urban Belle Mag. The Basketball Wives Connection
Gold became engaged to Jennifer Williams in August 2023, and the couple held a ceremony in Paris in September 2024, though Williams has said they do not hold a legal marriage certificate and describe the ceremony as a covenant officiated by their pastors.8Essence.
