What You Need Before You Log In

Two pieces of information get you into your account: your folio number, which identifies your tax account, and an access code that keeps your financial details private. Both appear in the top right area of your annual property tax notice.3City of Maple Ridge. MyCity Account (eBilling)

If your most recent notice has gone missing, earlier correspondence from the City will also carry the folio number. Your BC Assessment notice, which arrives every January, is another place to check.4BC Assessment. Your Assessment Notice

Checking Your Account Through MyCity

MyCity Account is the City’s online self-service system, covering property taxes, metered water, business licences, and dog licences. There is no guest access. You create an account with your email and a password, then link your property using the folio number and access code from your notice.3City of Maple Ridge. MyCity Account (eBilling)

Once linked, the portal shows your current balance, your payment history, and your current and past tax notices. You can also switch to eBilling so future property tax notices and metered utility bills arrive by email instead of paper mail.3City of Maple Ridge. MyCity Account (eBilling)

Ways to Pay

Maple Ridge accepts several payment methods, each with its own processing rules.5City of Maple Ridge. Pay Your Taxes

  • Online banking. Search for “Maple Ridge” as a payee through your bank, and use your folio number (no dashes or spaces) as the account number. Allow at least two business days for the payment to reach the City.
  • Credit card through MyCity Account. Visa and Mastercard are accepted. A non-refundable 2% merchant service fee is added to every credit card payment.
  • Paymentus. This third-party service takes Visa and Mastercard online or by phone at 1-855-480-9594. Each transaction is capped at $5,000, though multiple payments are allowed. A convenience fee applies.
  • In person at City Hall. Debit, cheque, credit card, and cash are all accepted. Cash payments are capped at $5,000. Credit card payments carry the same 2% fee.
  • Mail or drop box. Cheques, money orders, and bank drafts are accepted, and postdated cheques are permitted. Do not put cash in the drop box.

Tax Instalment Prepayment Plan

If you would rather spread payments across the year, the Tax Instalment Prepayment Plan (TIPP) automatically withdraws a portion of your estimated taxes on the 1st of each month from August through May. The remaining balance comes out on the July due date. Once enrolled, the plan continues each year until you cancel in writing.5City of Maple Ridge. Pay Your Taxes

Deadlines and Penalties for 2026

Tax notices for 2026 are mailed by the City in late May to early June. The full balance is due July 2, 2026. Any amount unpaid at 12:01 a.m. on July 3 carries a 5% penalty, and a second 5% penalty is added on September 2, bringing the total to 10% of the outstanding balance.2City of Maple Ridge. If taxes remain unpaid on December 31 of the year they were levied, they become “taxes in arrear” under the BC Community Charter and start accruing interest. Arrears still unpaid a year later become “delinquent taxes.”6BC Laws. Claim the Home Owner Grant Before You Pay

The Home Owner Grant is a provincial program that reduces the property tax owed on your principal residence. Because Maple Ridge is inside the Metro Vancouver Regional District, the basic grant is $570, with a larger additional grant available if you are 65 or older, a veteran, a person with a disability, or meet other qualifying criteria. Only one type of grant can be claimed per property.8Province of British Columbia. Home Owner Grant

For 2026, the full grant applies when the assessed value is at or below $2.075 million. Above that, the grant is reduced by $5 for every $1,000 of assessed value, phasing out entirely at $2.189 million for the basic grant and $2.244 million for the additional grant. Owners above those ceilings who qualify for the additional grant may still be eligible for a low-income supplement.

Applications now go directly to the Province rather than through the City, and the grant must be claimed by the July 2, 2026 due date. Miss it and the grant portion of your bill is treated as unpaid tax, meaning the same 5% penalty applies to that amount.1City of Maple Ridge. Deferring Your Taxes

British Columbia also runs two property tax deferment programs that work like low-interest loans: the Province pays your taxes and you repay the balance with interest when you sell or transfer the property. The regular program is open to owners 55 or older, surviving spouses, and people with disabilities; a separate program is available to owners financially supporting a child. Compound interest applies to deferred balances starting with the 2026 tax year, and applications must be submitted before the tax due date to avoid late penalties on the current year.9Province of British Columbia.
