Direct Remodels LLC, a St. Petersburg-based impact window and door installer, has been named as a defendant in a federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act lawsuit, at least two Florida customer civil cases, and a 2025 collections action brought by a financing partner. Most of the lawsuits filed against the company have been dismissed or remain pending, and none has produced a public judgment on the merits. Alongside the litigation, the Better Business Bureau has logged 25 consumer complaints against the company over three years.
Fortifi Financial Collections Case
The most significant open matter is Fortifi Financial Inc. v. Direct Remodels LLC, filed in Pinellas County Circuit Court in August 2025. Fortifi, a financing company, sued both Direct Remodels and managing member Daniel Vecchio personally, classifying the action as a contracts and indebtedness dispute.1Trellis Law. Direct Remodels filed an answer with affirmative defenses in late September 2025 and moved to dismiss in October. Discovery continued through the fall, and by November 2025 the case had been transferred to another court. The dollar amount at issue has not been disclosed in public records.
Moon TCPA Lawsuit in Federal Court
In June 2024, Marion Alexis Moon sued Direct Remodels in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, alleging violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, 47 U.S.C. ยง 227, which restricts automated telephone solicitation.2Justia Dockets. The parties filed a stipulation of dismissal roughly five months later, and Judge Merryday signed an order dismissing the case without prejudice on November 22, 2024.3PACER Monitor. Moon v. Customer Lawsuits in Florida State Courts
Two Florida customer cases have been filed against Direct Remodels.
Thomas and Donna Spellissy sued the company in Pinellas County Court on March 20, 2022, in a debt collection action listing $8,001 in controversy. Peter and Samantha Giermek filed a civil action against Direct Remodels in Hillsborough County Circuit Court on August 11, 2021 (Case No. 2021-CA-006556), assigned to Judge Christopher C. Nash. Consumer Complaints Behind the Litigation
The Better Business Bureau has logged 25 complaints against Direct Remodels over three years, seven of them closed in the most recent 12 months. - Persistent telemarketing calls from changing numbers despite do-not-call requests. One May 2026 complaint described calls from more than 20 different numbers.
- High-pressure sales tactics and disputes over cancellations attempted after Florida’s three-day rescission window, including one report of a threatened property lien.
- Deposit and refund disputes, including an allegation that the company cashed an $8,000 deposit check despite a written contingency requiring HOA approval first.

- Warranty disputes, including a customer initially charged $462 to repair a cracked window said to fall outside the “lifetime warranty,” which the company later acknowledged should have been escalated.

Contractor-review platforms show related allegations. One 2022 customer said Direct Remodels drew more than $37,000 from a remodeling loan without consent for a project where no work had started, and that the company later asked to be released from the contract, citing insufficient manpower. None of the lawsuits or complaints has produced a licensing action.
