Three medical malpractice lawsuits have been filed against Dr. Calvin Jung, the Houston cosmetic surgeon known online as “Dr. Jung Money,” and each Dr. Jung Money lawsuit has been resolved without a trial. The Three Malpractice Cases
Court records show three cases, all filed in Harris County. None went to trial. The public dockets in two of them do not spell out the alleged injuries or the specific procedures at issue.
Latour v. Jung, September 2021
Nicole Latour sued Jung on September 3, 2021. Her complaint also named Premiere Surgical Arts, PLLC; The Texas Institute for Surgical Arts Management, LLC; Crothall Healthcare Inc.; and Apyx Medical Corp., formerly known as Bovie Medical Corp.4UniCourt. Jordan and Jackson v. Jung, August 2022

After affidavits on medical expenses were filed and Jung’s attorneys moved to compel mediation in April 2023, the plaintiffs filed a notice of nonsuit with prejudice on July 28, 2023. The court signed the order of nonsuit on August 3, 2023. A nonsuit with prejudice bars the plaintiffs from refiling the same claims and commonly accompanies a settlement.6UniCourt. Neal v. Jung, October 2023

No answer was filed by the defendants. The court issued a notice of intent to dismiss on March 27, 2024, held a hearing on June 7, 2024, and dismissed the case for want of prosecution on June 17, 2024.8UniCourt. Why the Renuvion Device Appeared as a Defendant
The presence of Apyx Medical in the Latour case connects to broader scrutiny of its Renuvion device. In March 2022, Apyx disclosed that the FDA had notified it of a pending Medical Device Safety Communication about its advanced energy products. Apyx acknowledged that some physicians use Renuvion for dermal resurfacing outside its FDA-cleared indications, which cover cutting, coagulation, and ablation of soft tissue during surgical procedures. What the Case Outcomes Mean
None of the three lawsuits produced a jury verdict or a court finding of malpractice against Jung. A nonsuit, particularly one taken with prejudice, is most often the procedural signature of a private settlement, though the docket entries do not confirm the terms or the payment, if any. A dismissal for want of prosecution, as happened in Neal, ends the case without any decision on whether the underlying claims were valid; the plaintiff simply did not move it forward. Settlement documents in medical malpractice cases are typically confidential, so the specific injuries alleged and any amounts paid in the two settled cases are not part of the public record.
