Dustin Walker Sentenced to Life for Child Sexual Abuse

Dustin Joel Walker was sentenced to life in prison plus 42 years on June 29, 2026, after pleading guilty in Muskogee County, Oklahoma to sexually abusing his 11-year-old stepdaughter and neglecting six children in his care.¹ District Judge Timothy King ordered every count to run consecutively, so the 42-year neglect stack must be served before the life sentence begins.²

How the Case Came to Light

On August 16, 2025, Walker’s 11-year-old stepdaughter gave birth to a full-term baby inside the family’s Muskogee home.³ She was roughly 36 weeks pregnant, had received no prenatal care, and had not seen a doctor in more than a year.⁴ She was taken to a hospital afterward, and the district attorney’s office was alerted.

Walker and the child’s mother, Cherie Walker, initially told authorities they did not know the girl was pregnant.⁵ Both were arrested within days on felony child neglect charges. Prosecutors said the girl had been taken out of school, which Assistant District Attorney Janet Hutson suggested helped the pregnancy go undetected.⁶

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation then ran DNA testing that identified Walker as the infant’s father with 99 percent certainty.⁷ On August 25, 2025, prosecutors amended the case to add one felony count of sexual abuse of a child under 12.

The Other Five Children

When investigators searched the home, they found the couple’s five other children, ages 2, 4, 6, 7, and 9, living in conditions the file describes as deplorable, including exposure to animal feces and a lack of clothing.⁸ All five were removed. One neglect count covered the 11-year-old’s lack of medical care; the other five covered each younger child.

The Plea and the Sentence

Walker entered a blind plea on March 26, 2026, admitting guilt on every count with no negotiated deal and leaving punishment entirely to the judge.⁷ The sentencing range on the sexual abuse count alone ran from a 25-year minimum to life.

Three months later, Judge King handed down the maximum available on the top count and stacked the rest:

Life in prison for sexual abuse of a child under 12
15 years on one neglect count
7 years on another neglect count
5 years each on the remaining four neglect counts

All sentences run consecutively.¹

What the Sentence Means in Years Served

Every count against Walker falls under Oklahoma’s “85 percent” rule, meaning he must serve at least 85 percent of each sentence before he is even eligible for parole consideration.⁷ Under Oklahoma law, a life sentence is treated as 45 years for parole calculations, which puts the 85 percent threshold on the life count alone at 38 years and three months. That clock does not start until he finishes the consecutive 42-year neglect stack.

If Walker is ever released, he will face three years of supervised parole, mandatory sex offender registration, and a no-contact order covering the victims.²

The Mother and Grandmother Still Face Trial

Walker’s sentencing closed only his case. The victim’s mother, Cherie Dawn Walker, is charged with one felony count of enabling child sexual abuse and six counts of child neglect, with a jury trial set for July 13, 2026.⁹

The victim’s maternal grandmother, Michelle Lynn Justus, was charged on August 29, 2025 with six counts of child neglect or, in the alternative, six counts of enabling child neglect.¹⁰ Prosecutors said she lived across the street, saw the victim nearly every day, and knew about the pregnancy but did not report it.¹¹ Her trial is scheduled for July 23, 2026.
