Enchanted Fairies Lawsuit: Reid Case, BBB Complaints, and Refund Policy

The most recent lawsuit against Enchanted Fairies was filed in April 2026 by a New York customer named Monique Reid, but it sits on top of years of consumer complaints, a National Labor Relations Board filing, and disputes with contracted photographers, all centered on the Texas-based children’s portrait studio’s pricing and sales practices.

The Reid Lawsuit in New York

Monique Reid sued Enchanted Fairies Studio LLC in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, Kings County, in April 2026. The case is indexed as No. 511849/2026 and listed under “Torts – Other (Disabilities).” Reid is represented by the Shaked Law Group, and the summons was served at the company’s registered Plano, Texas address, care of founder Christopher Rensink.¹ The specific factual allegations in the complaint have not been publicly detailed beyond the docket entry, and the case was in a pre-assignment stage as of available records.

Why Customers Complain About Enchanted Fairies

The recurring complaint against Enchanted Fairies is a bait-and-switch pricing model. Families are drawn in with a low booking fee, sometimes as little as $25, and the promise of a complimentary portrait. After the shoot, customers attend a “Photo Premiere” viewing, often held over Zoom, where sales representatives present the images and push photo packages.²

The prices come as a shock. Individual digital photos reportedly start at $500, and full packages range from $2,500 to over $10,000. A consumer advocate cited by USA Today described a package priced at $25,000.² The company’s own site says “most of our clients invest between $1,000-$3,000” and that “some families invest $10,000+,” but customers report they were not told these figures before the shoot.

Complainants describe emotional pressure during sales sessions and warnings of imminent price increases meant to force a same-day decision. Some say the shoots were pitched to them as “auditions for modeling.” Others were told the prices were justified because the portraits last 300 years, or that costumes were designed by “J. Lo,” a claim USA Today found no evidence for.²

The No-Refund Policy and Arbitration Clause

Enchanted Fairies’ published terms make it hard for dissatisfied customers to walk away or organize collectively. Session fees are non-refundable. Once a product order is confirmed, the terms state, it cannot be changed, modified, or cancelled. Customers who initiate a chargeback or payment dispute after receiving services may face collection efforts and credit-agency reporting.³

The terms also require binding arbitration through the American Arbitration Association in Dallas, Texas, and include a waiver of the right to participate in class-action lawsuits or class-wide arbitration.³ When customers use third-party financing, the company treats the order as paid in full and disclaims responsibility for disputes between the customer and the lender. Together, these clauses push individual customers toward arbitration rather than court, and prevent class actions from forming out of the pattern of complaints.

Better Business Bureau Complaint Record

As of 2026, the Better Business Bureau lists 73 complaints against Enchanted Fairies Studio LLC over the preceding three years, with 16 closed in the most recent 12 months. Of the 73, 33 involve sales and advertising issues and 13 involve product issues. Only 12 were marked “resolved” by the consumer; in the remaining 61 the business responded but the customer did not confirm satisfaction.⁴

The company holds BBB accreditation and an A+ rating from the bureau. Its customer review average was previously reported at 1 out of 5 stars.² Enchanted Fairies has pointed to a 2022 BBB complaint-resolution process, saying claims of high-pressure tactics and unclear pricing were “determined to be unfounded.” In its responses, the company maintains that pricing and terms are disclosed in signed agreements and that orders are final, customized fine-art pieces, though it has occasionally offered goodwill items such as extra prints or digital storybooks.⁴

NLRB Complaint and Photographer Disputes

In October 2022, a complaint was filed with the National Labor Relations Board alleging Enchanted Fairies violated employees’ rights to engage in “concerted activities” by firing one employee and suspending another for discussing wages, hours, and working conditions with coworkers.² The NLRB matter remains unresolved in public records.

Contracted photographers have also clashed with the company. Dawn Flowers, a photographer in Brighton, Michigan, said Enchanted Fairies asked her to keep her studio available 60 hours per week and did not tell her the prices customers would face. The company terminated the agreement, stating she never performed shoots for their clients. As of late 2023, Flowers was negotiating compensation through her attorney.⁵

How Enchanted Fairies Responds

Founder Christopher Rensink told USA Today the company sees 72,000 customers annually and has accumulated 13,000 four- and five-star reviews. A Facebook group called “Enchanted Fairies Scam Victims” has grown past 2,000 members, and members have reported receiving cease-and-desist letters from the company. Critics have also accused Enchanted Fairies of aggressive reputation management, including deleting unfavorable social media comments and flagging critical posts as misinformation.²
