The Endo lawsuit payout per person is an estimated $1,950 gross for approved personal injury claimants, before attorney fees and medical liens are taken out. That figure combines a $390 base pro rata share of the trust’s roughly $39 million personal injury fund with a $1,560 bonus paid to claimants who signed a broader legal release. The Endo PI Opioid Trust began cutting checks in late April 2026, but only to claimants whose mandatory lien review has already cleared.1Endo PI Trust. Endo Opioid Personal Injury Trust
These are gross amounts. Your net check will be smaller, and in some cases meaningfully smaller, once contingency fees and Medicare, Medicaid, or private-insurer liens are subtracted.
How the $1,950 Breaks Down
The trust divides its roughly $39 million in distributable proceeds equally among every approved claim. That produces a flat pro rata share, not a payout scaled to how badly you were hurt. As of May 2026, the base share is $390 per allowed claimant.1Endo PI Trust. Endo Opioid Personal Injury Trust
Claimants who signed what the trust calls a “non-GUC Release” get an additional multiplier equal to four times the base, adding $1,560 and bringing the estimated gross to $1,950.1Endo PI Trust. Endo Opioid Personal Injury Trust The non-GUC Release waives claims against additional third parties tied to the case, not just the bankrupt Endo entities. The trust’s distribution procedures describe the multiplier as “consideration” for that broader waiver.2Endo PI Trust. PI Trust Distribution Procedures Once you sign it, it stays in effect even if your claim is later disallowed.
If you did not sign the non-GUC Release, your gross payout is the $390 base only.
What Gets Subtracted Before You See the Money
Three deductions come off the top of every payment: attorney fees under whatever contingency agreement you signed, administrative costs, and any healthcare liens. The trust’s lien resolution administrator checks with Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers for reimbursement claims tied to your opioid-related treatment. The trust has not disclosed an average net payout after deductions.
Every claimant goes through lien resolution regardless of whether you think you have outstanding liens. The trust estimates most claimants will finish the process within 12 months of providing their insurance information, but some cases run longer.3Endo PI Trust. Lien Resolution
NAS Claims Are on a Separate, Slightly Lower Track
Children born with neonatal abstinence syndrome from in-utero opioid exposure have their own sub-trust. The current estimated gross pro rata share for NAS claims is $385.65, with a total estimated gross of $1,928.25 for those who qualified for the non-GUC multiplier.1Endo PI Trust. Endo Opioid Personal Injury Trust
Those numbers can still shift because the NAS trust is working through claim deficiencies. The trust initially projected NAS payments would begin in the first quarter of 2026, but as of mid-May 2026 they had not started.1Endo PI Trust. Endo Opioid Personal Injury Trust
Why You May Be Approved and Still Waiting
For non-NAS personal injury claims, checks started going out at the end of April 2026, but only to claimants who had already cleared lien resolution.1Endo PI Trust. Endo Opioid Personal Injury Trust Approval alone is not enough. If your lien review is still open, your payment is held.
Two other situations delay payment. Claimants who appealed a non-GUC Release determination are held until the appeal is resolved. And claimants with attorneys receive their money through counsel rather than directly, which adds a step. Pro se claimants who have cleared liens will be contacted by email to confirm a mailing address.1Endo PI Trust. Endo Opioid Personal Injury Trust
Why the Per-Person Number Is So Small
The full personal injury fund is only about $39 million.4U.S. Bankruptcy Court, S.D.N.Y. PI Trust Opinion A ProPublica investigation reported that a documentation requirement — proof of an actual doctor’s prescription for an Endo opioid — knocked out roughly two-thirds of the initial 90,000 claimants, but even the reduced pool leaves very little per person.5ProPublica. Endo Settlement Opioids Justice Department
Several factors explain why so little money reached victims:
- Professional fees in the bankruptcy exceeded the victim fund. Legal and financial advisers billed more than $350 million, with Skadden Arps alone billing $114 million. The two law firms representing opioid victims, Akin Gump and Cooley, are set to receive $48 million in fees and expenses, which is itself more than the $39 million going to victims.5ProPublica. Endo Settlement Opioids Justice Department
- Government claims took priority. The federal settlement was valued at up to $464.9 million, and public opioid claimants (states, territories, and the District of Columbia) were allocated $465.2 million.6U.S. Department of Justice. - Pre-bankruptcy maneuvering drained assets. Beginning in 2018, Endo executed a plan codenamed “Project Zed” that converted nearly $3 billion of unsecured debt into secured debt and paid roughly $95 million in executive bonuses. The final round, $22 million, went to about two dozen executives four days before the bankruptcy filing.5ProPublica. Endo Settlement Opioids Justice Department
Federal agencies initially estimated Endo owed as much as $7 billion across taxes, Medicare costs, criminal fines, and forfeiture. Judge Linda Parker, who presided over the criminal case in Michigan, called the ultimate government settlement “a tiny fraction — three pennies on the dollar.”5ProPublica. Endo Settlement Opioids Justice Department According to FirstAlert4, only about 2% of total opioid settlement money nationally is expected to go directly to individuals and families.8FirstAlert4. How Endo Compares to Purdue Pharma
If you also have a claim against Purdue Pharma, expect a very different check. Purdue’s bankruptcy plan set aside approximately $850 million for individual victims, with expected payouts of around $8,000 or $16,000 per person depending on the length of the OxyContin prescription and the total number of qualifying claims. Purdue’s individual fund is scheduled for distribution in 2026.9PBS. Judge Formally Approves Opioid Settlement for Purdue Pharma and Sackler Family Members At the Endo trust’s current estimate, an Endo claimant stands to receive roughly a quarter of what a comparable Purdue claimant would get, and the gap widens after fees and liens.
If You Missed the Filing Windows
Filing is closed. The general bar date for filing a proof of claim in the Endo bankruptcy was July 7, 2023. The separate PI Opioid Claim Form and supporting documentation, including a signed HIPAA release, had to be in by May 23, 2024, and claims submitted after July 1, 2024 are barred.10Endo PI Trust. PI Opioid Claims The NAS submission deadline was April 23, 2025.1Endo PI Trust. Endo Opioid Personal Injury Trust
If your opioid injury first appeared after the July 2023 bar date, you may have what the trust calls a “Future PI Claim,” which is handled through a separate entity at EndoFuturePITrust.com. That trust was still updating its claims package as of early 2026 and had not yet begun accepting submissions.11Endo Future PI Trust. Endo Future PI Trust
