FaZe Jarvis Lawsuit: $1M Unpaid Fee and Akin Gump Malpractice

The FaZe Jarvis lawsuit actually refers to two connected cases. In December 2022, Jarvis Khattri sued Simply Greatness Productions in Los Angeles County Superior Court over an unpaid $1 million appearance fee from the 2021 “Social Gloves: Battle of the Platforms” boxing event.¹² In May 2025, he filed a second suit, this time against his former law firm, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, alleging that its handling of the settlement in that first case cost him the ability to recover the money.³

The Unpaid $1 Million Appearance Fee

Khattri fought on the Social Gloves card at Hard Rock Stadium in Florida on June 12, 2021, winning his bout by second-round knockout.⁴⁵⁶ More than a dozen influencers went unpaid, Khattri among them.⁷ His contracted appearance fee was $1 million.²

The 2022 Suit Against Simply Greatness Productions

On December 7, 2022, Khattri filed Jarvis Khattri vs. Simply Greatness Productions, LLC, et al. in the Los Angeles County Superior Court at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse. The case, numbered 943390, was docketed as a commercial and trade contract dispute.¹ The suit sought to recover his unpaid appearance fee, and at some point during the litigation, a settlement agreement was negotiated.² That settlement is what triggered the second lawsuit.

The 2025 Malpractice Suit Against Akin Gump

Khattri filed his legal malpractice complaint on May 28, 2025, in federal court in Texas, naming Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld and an unnamed Dallas-based partner at the firm.³² The complaint alleges the firm “failed to understand California law” while handling the financial dispute connected to the boxing event.

The core allegation is that Akin Gump’s “negligence, incompetence, and other wrongful conduct” during the settlement negotiations caused Khattri significant financial harm. According to the complaint, the firm mishandled the settlement’s terms in a way that left Khattri unable to pursue his $1 million fee after the other side breached the agreement. The settlement’s language allegedly locked him out of the very claim it was meant to protect.²

Where the Cases Stand

As of mid-2025, the malpractice suit is pending in Texas federal court. Akin Gump has not publicly commented on the allegations based on available reporting.

How Khattri’s Case Differs From Other Social Gloves Suits

Several other fighters and business partners sued over the failed event. TikTok creator Tayler Holder brought a $2 million suit against McBroom that settled in December 2021, and Simply Greatness Productions and LiveXLive settled their own cross-suits by the end of that year, with LiveOne agreeing to pay $3 million from event proceeds to “applicable payees.”⁸ NBA player James Harden, a $2 million investor, sent demand letters seeking to recover his money.⁹ McBroom’s own lawyer at the time, James Sammataro of Pryor Cashman, conceded it was unlikely there would “ever be any profits for this event.”⁷

Khattri’s second lawsuit changes the shape of the dispute. Instead of trying again to collect from an event that reportedly had no money to pay, he is asking his own former counsel to answer for how the settlement was written. The question is no longer whether McBroom’s company owed him a fee, but whether the lawyers who represented him negotiated it away.
