Fisher-Price Rock ‘n Play Settlement: Eligibility, Payouts, and Filing

The Fisher-Price Rock ‘n Play settlement is a $19 million class action resolution, approved by a federal judge in February 2025, that pays consumers who bought, received, or still own any model of the recalled infant sleeper. Payments range from $10 to the full purchase price depending on whether you still have the product and whether you can prove when you bought it. Claims are being processed by Kroll Settlement Administration, and late claims are accepted through March 31, 2027.¹

Who Qualifies

The class covers anyone in the United States or its territories who purchased any Rock ‘n Play Sleeper, received one as a gift, or currently possesses one. Roughly 4.7 million units were sold between 2009 and the April 2019 recall, so the pool is broad.²

Three groups are excluded: consumers who already received a cash refund through the 2019 recall, people who bought the sleeper to resell it, and the defendants themselves. If you returned your sleeper for a voucher or a toy rather than cash before September 6, 2024, you still qualify, but only for the $10 recall-participant payment.³

How Much You Can Get

Payment amounts depend on three things: whether you still have the sleeper, whether you have proof of purchase, and when it was bought or manufactured. The highest payments go to current owners who bought the product close to the recall date and can document the purchase.¹

Current Owners

To receive any of these payments, you must physically disable the sleeper (more on that below) and submit proof.

Purchased October 12, 2018 through April 12, 2019, with proof of purchase: full purchase price.
Same purchase window, no proof of purchase: $60.
Purchased or manufactured April 12, 2017 through October 11, 2018: $50.
Purchased or manufactured on or before April 11, 2017: $40.

Former Owners

If you no longer have the product and didn’t return it through the recall:

Purchased new April 12, 2017 through April 12, 2019, with proof of purchase: $35.
Purchased new on or before April 11, 2017, with proof of purchase: $25.
Purchased new, no proof of purchase: $10.

Recall Participants

If you returned a sleeper and received a voucher or toy (not cash) before September 6, 2024: $10.³

Keep in mind the $19 million is a gross fund. The court approved deductions of $5.32 million in legal fees, $825,000 in expenses, and $3,500 service awards for each of the 21 class representatives, along with administration costs and taxes, all subtracted before claimants are paid.⁴ If claims exceed what’s left, individual payouts may be reduced pro rata.

How to File a Claim

You can file online at FisherPriceRockNPlaySettlement.com or by mail to Kroll Settlement Administration LLC, P.O. Box 5324, New York, NY 10150-5324.³

Proof of purchase can be a receipt, order confirmation, credit card statement, or canceled check showing the purchase date and price. If you don’t have any of those, current owners can rely on the 7-character date code stamped inside the product’s hub.³

The Disable-and-Photograph Requirement for Current Owners

If you still have a Rock ‘n Play, you cannot simply describe it. You have to destroy it and prove you did. The settlement requires current owners to:

Detach the fabric liner and cut it.
Cut the pad so it can no longer be reattached.
Write your Unique Claimant ID on the cut fabric in permanent marker.
Photograph the cut fabric with the ID visible, along with the date code stamped on the hub.

All of those photos get submitted with your claim.³ Lead class counsel Demet Basar of Beasley Allen said “getting these products out of consumers’ hands has been one of the primary goals of this litigation.”⁴

Deadlines and When Payments Arrive

The main claims deadline was May 29, 2025. If you didn’t receive notice or didn’t know about the settlement, you can still file until March 31, 2027, or until the fund is exhausted, whichever comes first.¹

Judge Geoffrey W. Crawford granted final approval on February 28, 2025, and the settlement became effective March 31, 2025.⁵ The administrator has up to six months from the effective date to begin the initial distribution. As of mid-2026, no payments had gone out. The settlement website is the official place to check status.³

What This Settlement Does Not Cover

This is a consumer settlement about purchasing a defective product. It does not resolve claims for an infant’s death or injury. Wrongful death and personal injury cases have been litigated separately: Mattel settled a group of Delaware Superior Court cases involving six infant deaths and four injuries in June 2025, with terms not disclosed.⁶ Attorneys continue to accept new individual injury and death lawsuits against Mattel and Fisher-Price.⁷ If a child was harmed, that is a separate legal path, not a claim on this fund.

Why the Product Was Recalled

Fisher-Price sold the Rock ‘n Play Sleeper from 2009 to 2019, marketing it as a portable, cloth-covered cradle that rocked infants to sleep at an incline. Prices ran from $40 to $149 at retailers including Walmart, Target, and Amazon.⁸

The consumer lawsuits alleged the inclined design, at more than 10 degrees, let infants roll onto their stomachs or sides while unrestrained, or caused their heads to slump forward and block their airways. Suits also linked the product to plagiocephaly (flat head syndrome) and torticollis (a twisted neck condition).⁷ By the April 12, 2019 recall, more than 30 infant deaths had been linked to the product; roughly 70 more were reported afterward, bringing the total to about 100.²

Only about 395,000 sleepers, roughly 8 percent of those sold, had been returned or accounted for by December 2020.⁹ That is why the settlement rewards current owners most heavily, and only if they physically destroy the product. If yours is still in a closet or basement, the higher payment tiers exist precisely for you.
