To earn a State of Florida High School Diploma through the GED, you need to meet Florida’s eligibility rules, pass four subject tests with a minimum score of 145 out of 200 on each, and pay $38 per subject for a total of $152.1GED Testing Service. Who Can Take the GED in Florida
Three basic conditions apply. You can’t already hold a high school diploma or equivalency credential. You can’t be currently enrolled in an accredited high school. And you must be at least 18 years old, unless you qualify under the underage process below.1GED Testing Service. Florida – GED
Florida does not require state residency. You do need a valid government-issued photo ID and a Florida address when you register. On test day, the name on your ID must match the name on your GED.com account exactly; a mismatch or an expired ID means you won’t be admitted, and you’ll lose the testing fee.
Ages 16 and 17
Younger candidates can test, but there are extra steps. First, you have to formally withdraw from school by filing a declaration of intent to terminate enrollment with your school district under Florida Statutes Section 1003.21. After you’ve withdrawn, register for an account on GED.com and complete the Underage Testing Form with a parent or legal guardian’s signature and notary acknowledgment. Send the notarized form and proof of withdrawal to the Florida Department of Education’s High School Equivalency office at GEDagewaiver@fldoe.org or by fax.3Florida Department of Education. The Four Subject Tests
The GED consists of four computer-based tests, taken at official testing centers:
- Reasoning Through Language Arts (RLA), 150 minutes. Reading comprehension, grammar, and an extended written response.
- Mathematical Reasoning, 115 minutes. Algebra, quantitative problem solving, and some geometry and data analysis.
- Science, 90 minutes. Life science, physical science, and earth and space science.
- Social Studies, 70 minutes. U.S. history, civics and government, economics, and geography.
Combined testing time runs about seven hours, but you don’t have to take all four in one sitting. Each subject can be scheduled separately at whatever pace suits you.4GED. Cost and Registration

Retaking a Subject
If you fail a subject, you can retake it. The first two retakes on that subject can be scheduled with no waiting period. Accommodations for Disabilities
If you have a physical disability, learning disability, chronic illness, or mental health condition, you can request accommodations. Apply through your GED.com account. You’ll need current medical documentation or evaluations from a licensed professional; GED Testing Service publishes documentation guidelines for learning and cognitive disorders, ADHD, psychological disorders, and physical disabilities. The Diploma You Receive
Once you pass all four subjects, Florida issues the credential, formally titled the State of Florida High School Diploma. You automatically receive one free electronic diploma and one free electronic transcript, sent to the email on your GED.com account.10Florida Department of Education.
