Florida KidCare Payment Online: Autopay, Fees, and Due Dates

To pay your Florida KidCare premium online, go to healthykids.bill2pay.com or log into the Parent Portal at portal.floridakidcare.org and click “Pay online” under Payments. You will need your Family Account Number (FAN) and the ZIP code on file. Most families pay $15 or $20 a month for all qualifying children, and the payment covers the following month’s coverage.

What to Have Ready

  • Your Family Account Number, printed on your billing statement and your KidCare ID card. Without it, the system can’t find your account.
  • The mailing ZIP code on file, used with the FAN to verify you.
  • The exact premium amount from your statement.
  • A Visa, Mastercard, or Discover card (number, expiration, CVV), or your bank’s routing and account numbers for an electronic check.

Making a One-Time Payment

The bill2pay site lets you pay as a guest, so you don’t need a portal login to use it. Enter your FAN and ZIP code, then the payment amount and your card or bank details. A review screen shows the total, including any processing fee, before you finalize. Submit, then save the confirmation number. That number is your proof of payment if anything comes into question later.

If you’re already inside the Parent Portal, the “Pay online” link under Payments takes you through the same flow without re-entering your account information.

Setting Up Autopay

Autopay is the single best way to keep coverage from lapsing over a missed due date. It runs through the Parent Portal, not the guest bill2pay site.

Log in at portal.floridakidcare.org, open Manage Payments, and select “I want to manage my autopay.” Enter your payment method and authorize the recurring charge. The premium pulls automatically each billing cycle. You can update the card or bank account, or cancel the recurring charge, from the same menu.

Cards, E-Checks, and the Convenience Fee

Visa, Mastercard, and Discover work for both one-time payments and autopay. Electronic checks from a checking or savings account are accepted for one-time payments.

Card payments carry a convenience fee charged by the third-party processor, shown on the review screen before you commit. E-check payments do not carry that fee. If you want to avoid the surcharge and still pay electronically, use an e-check.

Due Date, Grace Period, and Missed Payments

Premiums are due on the first of the month for the following month’s coverage. For coverage starting March 1, payment needs to reach Florida KidCare by February 1. Florida law provides a 30-day grace period after the due date, and coverage continues without interruption if payment arrives within that window.

Missing the 30-day window terminates coverage, and reinstatement requires paying the overdue premiums. Florida statute historically allowed up to a 60-day waiting period before coverage could restart after nonpayment cancellation. A federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services rule that took effect in 2024 now prohibits CHIP programs from imposing lockout periods for missed premiums, and states had to eliminate existing lockouts by June 2025. In practical terms, paying the overdue balance should restore coverage without a lengthy waiting period, though processing still takes time. If you fall behind, call Florida KidCare at 1-888-540-KIDS (5437) right away.

If You Would Rather Not Pay Online

Phone payments go to 1-888-540-KIDS (5437), Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Eastern, excluding holidays. Have your FAN and ZIP ready. Phone card payments carry the same convenience fee as online card payments.

Mailed payments should be a check, cashier’s check, or money order made payable to “Florida KidCare,” with your Family Account Number written on the payment, sent to Florida KidCare, P.O. Box 31105, Tampa, FL 33631-3105. Allow enough time for the payment to arrive by the due date, not just be postmarked by it.
