Fred Hutchinson Settlement Payout Date: Amounts, Eligibility, and Timing

The Fred Hutchinson settlement payout date arrived in November 2025, when the claims administrator began issuing payments to approved claimants in the $11.5 million data breach class action. Judge Wyman Yip of King County Superior Court granted final approval on May 20, 2025, and under the settlement terms payments go out within 60 days of the effective date or within 30 days of a claim’s approval, whichever is later.1ClaimDepot. When Payments Are Being Issued

The settlement’s effective date is the point at which final approval has been entered and any appeals are resolved. After Judge Yip signed the final order on May 20, 2025, Fred Hutch and the University of Washington had 14 days from the effective date to deposit the balance of the $11.5 million fund, at which point Kroll Settlement Administration LLC could begin processing payouts.2ClassAction.org. How Much Each Claimant Receives

The $11.5 million fund is non-reversionary, meaning anything not paid to claimants goes to other settlement costs rather than back to the defendants. Before claimant payments, the fund covers administration, attorneys’ fees of about $3.8 million, up to $100,000 in litigation expenses, and $2,500 service awards for each of the eight named plaintiffs.4The Seattle Times. A pro rata cash payment of up to $599 is available to every class member who filed a valid claim. The actual payment depends on how many people filed. The court-approved notice gave an example: if 5% of the class opted in, the payment would be roughly $60.5ClassAction.org. Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center Data Breach Settlement Notice

Who Is Eligible to Receive a Payment

The settlement class covers roughly 2,151,554 U.S. residents whose personal information was potentially or actually compromised in the November 2023 breach. That includes patients, employees, and insurance policyholders of Fred Hutch, along with some UW Medicine patients whose records were part of the shared cancer-care infrastructure. Class membership was based on whether a person’s data sat in a database that could have been accessed during the attack, not on proof the data was taken.4The Seattle Times. Eligible individuals were mailed a postcard with a unique Class Member ID. If you never received one, you are likely not part of the class, and there is no separate path to join after the fact.5ClassAction.org. Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center Data Breach Settlement Notice
