Three Google class action settlements now paying out in 2025 and 2026 require no proof of purchase from most eligible consumers, and two of them require no claim form at all. The largest, a $700 million Play Store antitrust deal, sends money automatically through PayPal or Venmo. A $135 million federal cellular data settlement and a $350 million California cellular data settlement also pay class members without receipts. A fourth active Google settlement, covering Google Assistant recordings, does require a claim form and is treated separately below.
The $700 Million Google Play Store Settlement
This is the settlement most people are hearing about. It resolves antitrust claims brought by all 50 state attorneys general, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands, together with a consumer class action, in State of Utah et al. v. Google LLC et al. Who Qualifies
You are eligible if you paid for an app on the Google Play Store, or paid for in-app content through Google Play Billing, between August 16, 2016, and September 30, 2023, while living in any U.S. state, D.C., Puerto Rico, or the Virgin Islands.2Google Play State AG Antitrust Litigation. How Much
Every eligible consumer receives at least $2, with more going to people who spent more on qualifying purchases, calculated proportionally against everyone else in the class.5Google Play State AG Antitrust Litigation. If You Don’t Get Paid Automatically
A supplemental claims process opens after the main distribution. Use it if you don’t have or don’t want a PayPal or Venmo account, if you no longer have access to the email or phone number linked to your Google Play account, or if you expected a payment and never received one. The $135 Million Federal Cellular Data Settlement
In Taylor v. Google LLC (Case No. 5:20-cv-07956-VKD), Google agreed to pay $135 million to resolve claims that Android transferred data from users’ phones to Google servers without permission, using their cellular data. Who Qualifies
You are in the class if you used an Android device with a cellular data plan in the U.S. between November 12, 2017, and the date of final approval. No Claim Form Required
The administrator, Angeion, pays each class member an equal share after costs, taxes, and court-approved fees.8ClassAction.org. $135M Google Settlement Resolves Class Action Over Alleged Android Cellular Data Collection With an estimated 100 million class members, individual payments will be small, capped at $100 per person.6CNET. The $350 Million California Cellular Data Settlement
The companion California case, Attila Csupo et al. v. Google LLC (Case No. 19-CV-352557), went to trial. A Santa Clara County jury found Google liable in July 2025 and awarded $314.6 million to a class of roughly 14 million Californians. Rather than appeal, the parties settled for $350 million, which also resolved outstanding motions for interest, costs, and injunctive relief. The class covers anyone who lived in California and used a phone running a Google-licensed version of Android with a cellular data plan at any point from August 9, 2016, to the present. A Note on the Google Assistant Settlement
You may see news of a $68 million Google Assistant privacy settlement in In re Google Assistant Privacy Litigation (Case No. 5:19-cv-04286-BLF). That one is not no-proof. Purchaser class members must submit a claim form with proof of purchase, and privacy class members must submit a signed declaration.11KXAN. Spotting Fake Settlement Emails
Scam emails ride on legitimate settlements. Real notices point you to the specific official settlement website for that case and never ask for sensitive financial information by email.
