Gucci Mane’s jail time stretched across roughly fifteen years, from a 90-day cocaine sentence in 2001 through a 39-month federal firearms term that ended in May 2016. Court and news records document at least seven separate stints behind bars for the Atlanta rapper, born Radric Delantic Davis, on charges that included drug possession, aggravated assault, battery, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. The First Arrest in 2001
Davis’s earliest documented incarceration came in 2001, when he was arrested on cocaine possession charges and served 90 days.1Albany Herald. The 2005 Murder Charge That Was Dropped
On May 10, 2005, Macon rapper Henry Lee Clark III was fatally shot; his body was found three days later in woods near Columbia Middle School in Decatur, Georgia. Davis was arrested on May 19 and charged with murder. His attorney, Dennis Scheib, said Davis had acted in self-defense after five men entered a condominium he was visiting and exchanged gunfire with him, and that Davis believed the men were connected to rival rapper Young Jeezy.2Star News Online. Aggravated Assault and Probation Violations

In September 2008, he was arrested for completing only 25 of 600 required community service hours and jailed for six months in Fulton County, getting out in March 2009.5DJBooth. A November 2010 arrest in Atlanta added reckless driving, running a red light, driving on the wrong side of the road, driving without a license, and damage to government property. The 2011 Battery Case
In April 2011, Davis was arrested on misdemeanor battery charges after allegedly pushing a woman named Diana Graham out of his moving vehicle when she refused his advances. Graham was treated at Atlanta Medical Center.4CBS News. The 2013 Nightclub Assault
In April 2013, Davis was charged with aggravated assault for allegedly hitting a man with a champagne bottle at a downtown Atlanta nightclub.8AJC. The Federal Firearms Case and 39-Month Prison Term
Davis’s longest single sentence came out of two separate incidents in September 2013. On September 12 and again on September 14, he was found with loaded firearms. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, he displayed the weapons, acted erratically, and threatened people including police officers and his own attorney.11U.S. Department of Justice. On November 19, 2013, a federal grand jury indicted him on two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Davis served the sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Terre Haute, Indiana. His original release date was September 2016. His lawyer, Drew Findling, filed motions arguing Davis had not received credit for time already served, a judge signed an order acknowledging the error, and the Bureau of Prisons applied the additional credit.14The Guardian. No Arrests Since 2016
No new arrests or criminal charges against Davis have been reported since his May 2016 release. In a 2017 NPR interview, he said he made a “conscious decision” to change his life after the 2013 arrest, when he realized he was “facing a bunch of time,” and pointed to his addiction to lean, a codeine and promethazine cough syrup mixture, as what “derailed my career.”16NPR. A 2026 federal case involving Davis is worth noting only to prevent confusion: he is the alleged victim, not a defendant. Federal prosecutors have charged rapper Lontrell Williams Jr. (Pooh Shiesty) and eight others with kidnapping and armed robbery, alleging they held Davis at gunpoint in a Dallas music studio on January 10, 2026, and demanded he sign contract release papers.18NBC News.
