Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness finalized their divorce settlement in June 2025, ending a 27-year marriage and dividing a combined fortune reported at between $250 million and $387 million. The uncontested agreement, filed in New York’s Suffolk County Supreme Court, gave Furness spousal support, provisions for the couple’s two children, and a share of a real estate portfolio spanning Manhattan, the Hamptons, and Sydney. The exact dollar split was not made public.¹²

Why the Settlement Took Nearly Two Years

The couple announced their separation on September 16, 2023, but Furness did not file for divorce until May 23, 2025. The delay was attributed largely to the absence of a prenuptial agreement. Jackman had built most of his wealth during the marriage, through the X-Men franchise, stage work, a coffee company, and a production company, and untangling those interests took time.³⁴

Reports in late 2023 said Jackman had sought a nondisclosure agreement that would bar Furness from discussing their relationship publicly, in exchange for a significant share of his fortune. How the Real Estate Was Divided

The property portfolio is the most publicly traceable part of the settlement. The couple held at least four significant homes.

Chelsea Penthouse

Jackman and Furness bought a penthouse at 100 Eleventh Avenue in Manhattan in 2022 for $21 million, holding it through a shell company called Lackawanna LLC. In May 2025, just before the divorce filing, an LLC tied to Furness called Phoenix Rising I paid $11.7 million to Lackawanna, buying out Jackman’s half of a property then valued at about $23.6 million. The transaction was recorded as a transfer between former relatives, and both entities shared a business address belonging to the couple’s advisors at Grant Tani Barash & Altman in Beverly Hills.⁷⁸

East Hampton and Bondi Beach

The couple’s East Hampton waterfront compound sits on 2.5 acres they bought in 2015 for $3.5 million; the main house, guest house, and private beach access were completed around 2021. Its post-divorce ownership has not been publicly reported.¹¹²¹²

Court Filing and Finalization

Furness filed for divorce in Suffolk County Supreme Court on May 23, 2025. The filing was uncontested, meaning the terms were already agreed and the court needed only to sign off. Her attorney, Elena Karabatos, submitted the settlement terms along with health care coverage provisions, a medical child support order, a proposed judgment, and an official certificate of dissolution.¹³ The judgment of divorce was filed on June 12, 2025, the case was marked “disposed,” and the records were uploaded on June 23, 2025.¹⁴

Public Statements After the Filing

Days after the filing, Furness broke nearly two years of silence. In a statement to People on May 27, 2025, she described “the traumatic journey of betrayal,” calling it “a profound wound that cuts deep,” while also framing the end of the marriage as a step toward personal growth. “Returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom,” she said.¹⁵

Jackman did not respond publicly. A source cited by the Daily Mail and reported by People said he was “blindsided” and “extremely disappointed” by the remarks, claiming there had been “an unwritten understanding that she would not trash him to the press.”¹⁶ Around the same time, the BBC reported, Jackman posted an Instagram video of himself skipping to the NSYNC song “Bye Bye Bye,” without commenting directly on the divorce.¹⁷
