India Kinamore Murder: Plot, Indictment, and Three Defendants

The India Kinamore murder case centers on a 26-year-old pregnant woman shot to death in her Colerain Township, Ohio home on March 4, 2023 — the morning she was scheduled to be induced to deliver her son. More than two years later, a Hamilton County grand jury indicted three men: Kayvon Warren, the father of her unborn child, along with Robert Ervin and Lamar Morris Suggs. Prosecutors allege Warren orchestrated the killing because he did not want the baby, and staged the scene to look like a burglary. Warren’s trial is scheduled to begin in May 2026.¹

The Killing

Officers were called to a residence on Hidden Meadows Drive at about 4:40 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023. They found India Kinamore with a gunshot wound and pronounced her dead at the scene. She had been in the late stages of pregnancy and was due to give birth that day; her unborn son, Kyren, did not survive.²

Kinamore’s six-year-old son was in the home. After the shooting, he called his grandmother and told her, “My mommy has been shot.”³ Prosecutors later alleged Kinamore was asleep when she was shot.⁴ At the initial response, police said they had no suspects.⁵

Why It Took More Than Two Years

Colerain Township detectives worked the case for more than two years. According to the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office, that work included dozens of interviews, review of financial records, and extensive analysis of cellphone data and electronic communications among the eventual suspects.⁶ Investigators also pulled surveillance video from the scene and surrounding area and tracked a vehicle tied to one of the suspects near the apartment on the night of the killing.³

A key conclusion was that the scene had been staged. What looked at first like a burglary was, prosecutors say, a cover for a targeted killing.⁷

The Alleged Plot and Motive

Prosecutors allege Warren, 30, conspired with Ervin, 20, and Suggs, 22, to kill Kinamore. According to the prosecution, Warren did not want the baby and had pressured Kinamore to end the pregnancy, but she refused.⁸ A detective testified at a hearing that Warren wanted the pregnancy to end because it was interfering with his desire to rekindle a relationship with a previous girlfriend.⁹ Prosecutors also said Warren was under severe financial strain at the time, including the loss of his home.⁶

Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich has pointed to one particularly damning detail as evidence of premeditation: Warren requested bereavement leave from his employer before the murder took place.⁶ Cellphone records showed extensive contact among the three men in the hours before the shooting, and evidence indicated they met shortly beforehand.¹⁰ Prosecutors further alleged that Warren was lying next to Kinamore when she was shot.⁹

Arrests and the 13-Count Indictment

Colerain Township police arrested the three men on August 21, 2025.³ On August 29, 2025, Pillich announced that a Hamilton County grand jury had returned a 13-count indictment charging all three with four counts of aggravated murder, plus burglary and felonious assault. Warren and Suggs also face charges of having a weapon while under disability.⁶

The four aggravated murder counts reflect that under Ohio law, an unborn child is treated as a separate victim for homicide purposes, so Kinamore and her baby each support separate charges.¹¹ All three defendants face the possibility of life in prison if convicted.⁷

Pillich said in a statement: “This should have been one of the happiest days of India’s life. Instead, the father of the child conspired with two others to kill her. It is heartbreaking. My office will see that justice is done for both India and her baby.”⁶

The Three Defendants

Kayvon Warren

Prosecutors identify Warren, 30, as the person who orchestrated the murder. He was in a relationship with Kinamore and is described as the father of her unborn child. The prosecution alleges he sent Ervin and Suggs to carry out the shooting after Kinamore refused to end the pregnancy.⁸ At a later hearing, prosecutors presented text messages they said showed Warren trying to coerce Kinamore into an abortion.¹

Warren’s attorney, Clyde Bennett II, has called his client a “victim of a robbery gone wrong” and characterized the prosecution’s case as guilt by association.¹² Bennett told the court that Warren had known about the investigation for two years and never fled, and disputed the claim about the pregnancy, saying “he wanted the child.”³

Robert Ervin

Ervin, 20, is described in some reporting as Warren’s cousin.⁴ Prosecutors say he was “instrumental in the murders,” citing evidence that his cellphone was near the crime scene and that he exchanged communications with his co-defendants in the hours before the killing. His attorney, Robert Jones, has said Ervin “has no ties to this case” and “no ties to the deceased” beyond being in a group chat with the other two defendants.¹³

Lamar Morris Suggs

Suggs, 22, is Ervin’s half-brother. Prosecutors have identified him as the alleged gunman and cited the men’s cellphone communications as evidence of a coordinated plan.¹⁰ At the time of his arrest, Suggs was already serving a three-year prison sentence on a 2024 weapons conviction.⁴

Where the Case Stands Now

At their initial arraignment, Warren and Ervin each received bond set at $600,000.³ Both later sought bond reductions in September 2025, and a judge denied both requests. During that hearing, Kinamore’s mother, Terri Kinamore, called Warren a “threat to society.”⁹

On December 18, 2025, Judge Jennifer Branch granted a prosecution motion to hold Warren without bond. Testimony at that hearing included an account from Kinamore’s grandmother describing a phone call after the shooting in which Warren was allegedly in the background telling the caller what to say.¹

Warren is being held without bond at the Hamilton County Justice Center, and his trial is scheduled for May 2026. No trial dates for Ervin or Suggs have been publicly reported.¹

Terri Kinamore has described the two-and-a-half years before the arrests as a period of fear for the family. “We have been living in fear for two and a half years because we never knew who did it,” she said. Of the indictments: “It was heartbreaking, but it was kind of a relief because we knew who did it. We felt like we didn’t have to look over our shoulders anymore.”¹
