Jett Lawrence Lawsuit: Lucas Mirtl and Wire Fraud Charges

The Jett Lawrence lawsuit is a civil fraud case that Jett and his brother Hunter filed in early 2025 against their former agent, Lucas Mirtl, accusing him of stealing more than $600,000 from business accounts he controlled on their behalf. The suit is pending in Florida state court, and Mirtl has since been indicted on four federal counts of wire fraud tied to the same conduct.

Who Lucas Mirtl Was

Mirtl represented the Lawrence brothers through Wasserman Media Group, one of the largest sports and entertainment agencies in the world. On January 23, 2025, the family publicly announced they had fired him, saying they had grown suspicious of “potentially fraudulent activity” on one of their business accounts and, after an initial investigation, found “evidence of misuse and misappropriation of our personal funds by our agent Lucas Mirtl for his benefit.”¹ Wasserman fired Mirtl the same day.²

What the Lawsuit Alleges

The complaint centers on two Wells Fargo accounts held in the names of Jettson Donuts LLC and Jettson Donuts Genesis, Inc. Those accounts held revenue from the Lawrences’ replica gear sales and VIP fan experiences at races, and Mirtl had access to them. According to the lawsuit, he used them like a personal checking account.³

The alleged unauthorized transactions include:

More than $140,000 transferred directly to Mirtl, often labeled as “loans” or “commissions”
At least $50,000 in payments toward a personal American Express card in his name
$45,000 sent to a Belgian luxury motorhome company, allegedly for the benefit of two of Mirtl’s other European motocross clients
At least $18,075 in payments to his divorce attorney and his soon-to-be ex-wife
At least $15,000 in Venmo transfers, including payments for a babysitter
$6,300 to cover fees another rider Mirtl managed owed to the Lawrences’ company³

The complaint says any legitimate commissions or expenses were supposed to flow through Wasserman’s internal accounting, not be pulled directly from the brothers’ business accounts.³

Another $240,000 in claimed losses came through gear sponsor Alpinestars. The lawsuit says Mirtl received replica gear from Alpinestars on the Lawrences’ behalf, sold it through Feld Entertainment, deposited the proceeds into the Wells Fargo account he controlled, and never paid Alpinestars back for the cost of the goods. When Alpinestars demanded repayment between January and June 2024, Mirtl promised the money but never sent it. Alpinestars ultimately recovered the $240,000 by withholding it from the Lawrences’ sponsorship fees.³⁴

The Legal Claims

The complaint lists five causes of action: conversion, unjust enrichment, breach of fiduciary duty, replevin (to recover race apparel and memorabilia Mirtl allegedly kept), and an accounting of the funds.³

From Federal to State Court

The brothers first filed in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida on January 30, 2025. That filing ran into a jurisdictional problem: both the Lawrences and Mirtl are non-U.S. citizens, and federal diversity jurisdiction generally doesn’t work when all parties on both sides are foreign nationals. The Lawrences voluntarily dismissed the federal case without prejudice on March 14, 2025.⁵

They had already refiled in state court. On March 3, 2025, the same claims were brought in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial District in Pasco County, Florida, before Judge Susan G. Barthle.⁶ Mirtl was served on March 12, 2025.⁷ The case is still pending, with little visible docket activity as of the most recent available records.

The Federal Wire Fraud Indictment

The bigger legal exposure for Mirtl came at the end of 2025. On December 17, 2025, a federal grand jury in the Middle District of Florida returned a sealed indictment charging him, then 42, with four counts of wire fraud.⁸

Prosecutors allege Mirtl defrauded two unnamed clients between August 2023 and January 2025 while working as a sports agent for a Los Angeles-based marketing and talent management company, a description that matches Wasserman. According to the Justice Department, he gained access to the clients’ professional bank accounts and made small, incremental withdrawals for personal use over roughly 18 months, disguising the transactions with false memo lines describing goods and services he never provided.⁹ The government is seeking forfeiture of at least $351,797 in alleged fraud proceeds.¹⁰

Each wire fraud count carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison.⁹ The indictment does not name the two alleged victims, and it hasn’t been publicly confirmed that they are specifically the Lawrence brothers, though the criminal allegations closely mirror the civil ones.¹⁰

Mirtl’s Response

Mirtl has denied wrongdoing from the start. He called the civil claims “pure fiction” on social media and said he had been “blindsided” without a chance to defend himself.⁵ After the indictment, he wrote on LinkedIn that he is “fighting false accusations and the ongoing deformation by a surgical death by media cancellation,” adding, “The resistance is coming.” He has also said he was “betrayed” by colleagues at Wasserman.¹⁰ No plea or trial date in the criminal case has been publicly reported as of mid-2026.

Current Status

The civil lawsuit in Pasco County remains open but quiet on the docket.⁶ The federal criminal case is the more consequential proceeding now, given the potential prison exposure and the forfeiture demand. The Lawrence brothers have continued racing, and both remain with Honda HRC Progressive under Wasserman’s management.¹¹
