Joseph Garrett Duggar, a 31-year-old former cast member of TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting, was arrested on March 18, 2026, in Tontitown, Arkansas, on a Bay County, Florida warrant accusing him of sexually abusing a nine-year-old girl during a 2020 family trip to Panama City Beach. He faces two life felonies in Florida, has pleaded not guilty, and is out on a $600,000 bond awaiting a July 2026 pretrial hearing. His wife, Kendra Duggar, was arrested two days later in a separate Arkansas case involving locks found on the outside of their children’s bedroom doors.
What He Is Accused Of
The allegations trace to a 2020 family vacation in Panama City Beach, Florida. According to an arrest affidavit filed by the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, the girl, who was nine at the time and is now 14, said Duggar groomed her over the course of the trip, had her sit on his lap and “cradled her with his arms,” and later pulled a blanket over the two of them on a couch and touched her inappropriately outside her clothing.1People. The investigation opened after the girl disclosed the abuse during a forensic interview with a detective from the Tontitown Police Department in Arkansas. On March 17, 2026, the girl’s father confronted Duggar, who the affidavit says admitted to the conduct. The next day, police arranged a recorded phone call between the father and Duggar in which Duggar reportedly repeated the admission while a detective listened.2NBC Miami. Duggar waived arraignment in a written filing and entered a written plea of not guilty. His attorney, Albert J. Sauline III, asked the court to loosen the bond conditions so Duggar could have unsupervised contact with his own biological children and visit a property he owns near the accuser’s residence. On June 16, 2026, Judge Clark denied both requests, ruling that contact with his children must be supervised and that an employee or agent must handle maintenance at the nearby property.7Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Joseph is a separate person from his older brother Josh Duggar, whose own prosecution often comes up alongside this case. Josh was at the center of a 2015 scandal involving the molestation of five minors, including four of his sisters, when he was a teenager; no charges were filed then because the statute of limitations had expired.
