Kory Gill: Conviction, Sentencing, and Pending Cases

Kory Gill is a former Texas A&M University team physician who was convicted of sexual assault in December 2025 and sentenced to four years in Texas state prison for assaulting a patient at his College Station clinic. A Brazos County jury also imposed the maximum $10,000 fine, and Judge John Brick issued lifetime protective orders keeping Gill away from the women who testified. Four additional criminal charges and a civil lawsuit remain pending against him.¹

Who Kory Gill Is

Gill joined Texas A&M in 2009. He served on the medical staff for Texas A&M Athletics, taught as an assistant professor of Family and Community Medicine at the Texas A&M College of Medicine, and directed the university’s Primary Care and Sports Medicine Fellowship Program. He also ran a private practice, Central Texas Sports Medicine, in the Bryan–College Station area.²³

The university has said there is “zero indication” that Gill ever assaulted any student-athletes, noting that athletic trainers were always present during examinations.⁴ The assaults at issue in his criminal cases involve private patients at his clinic.

How the Case Against Him Began

Two female patients reported that Gill sexually assaulted them during treatment sessions, one incident in April 2021 and another in November 2021. One of the women was a Texas A&M staff member who filed a Title IX complaint with the university, triggering an internal investigation. A university Title IX investigator also alerted the Bryan Police Department to the second woman’s allegations.²⁵

Texas A&M fired Gill in February 2022 following the Title IX investigation.⁴ On May 4, 2022, he was booked into the Brazos County Detention Center on two counts of sexual assault.⁶ Later that month, the Texas Medical Board temporarily suspended his medical license, finding that his “continuation in the practice of medicine poses a continuing threat to public welfare.” That suspension remains in place.⁷

The Trial

Gill’s trial opened December 10, 2025, in the 272nd District Court in Brazos County. Prosecutors argued that he used his position as a doctor to lure women to his clinic after hours under the pretense of free treatment for back pain.⁸

The first complainant testified that during her fourth treatment session in November 2021, Gill gave her a drink that left her “severely impaired” and unable to move. DNA analysis confirmed Gill’s semen on her clothing, and her phone search history corroborated her belief that she had been drugged.⁸

The second complainant testified that Gill assaulted her while treating her for a hip issue. She fought him off, fled, and told a friend right away before reporting to the university and police. Prosecutors said Texas A&M’s own investigation found Gill had provided her with alcohol and had admitted she was “not in control of her faculties.”¹

A third woman, not named in the indictment, testified during the punishment phase. She said Gill rubbed against her in a sexual manner during a medical appointment and that she told her husband and a friend immediately afterward.⁹

Verdict and Sentence

The jury returned a guilty verdict on December 17, 2025. During deliberations, jurors told the judge they were unanimous on guilt but split on whether the offense was sexual assault or attempted sexual assault; Judge Brick instructed them the verdict had to be unanimous on the specific charge. After the verdict, one juror contacted the bailiff and said they felt pressured into the sexual assault conviction. Judge Brick upheld the verdict, noting the juror had chances to object both when signing the verdict form and when polled individually in open court.¹

Two days later, the jury sentenced Gill to four years in prison from a range that ran from probation to 20 years, along with the $10,000 maximum fine. He was taken into custody immediately.⁸ Prosecutors said afterward that “when that power and trust is weaponized for sick pleasure, a prison sentence is the only response.”⁹

What Is Still Pending

The December 2025 conviction resolved only one of the charges Gill faces. Four criminal charges remain:

Two felony counts of sexual assault from an incident in December 2020.
One felony count of sexual assault from a November 2021 incident.
One misdemeanor indecent assault charge from a December 2021 incident.

No trial dates have been set. Defense counsel indicated an intent to appeal the December 2025 conviction, though no formal appeal filing has been reported.¹⁰¹

A civil lawsuit filed in Brazos County by a plaintiff seeking damages remains active, with Gill as the sole remaining defendant. A trial scheduled for May 11, 2026 was postponed after Gill, transported from state prison for the hearing, told the court he was unaware of the trial date and had no legal representation.¹⁰

Gill is eligible for parole in December 2027.¹⁰
