Kroll’s AT&T Settlement: Payout Date, Amounts, and Claim Status

There is no confirmed Kroll AT&T settlement payout date as of mid-2026. Judge Ada Brown of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas held the final approval hearing on January 15, 2026, but has not yet ruled, and the $177 million fund cannot be distributed until she does.¹ An April 23, 2026 update on the official settlement website confirmed the court still had not issued a decision, and the docket shows no final approval entry after the hearing date.²

Why No Payment Date Is Set

Three things must happen before Kroll Settlement Administration LLC can send any money, according to the settlement website. The court must grant final approval. The window for appeals must close. And Kroll must finish reviewing every submitted claim. The site also warns that appeals filed after approval could push payments back further.¹ As of February 2026, no official payout date had been announced.³

The settlement website has not disclosed whether payments will arrive by check, direct deposit, or another method. That will likely be spelled out once the court rules.

How Much You Could Receive

The $177 million fund is split between the two 2024 breaches. A $149 million fund covers the March 2024 breach involving personal information dating back to 2019 or earlier. A $28 million fund covers the July 2024 breach involving call and text records.⁴

Individual amounts depend on which breach affected you and whether you can document financial losses tied to it:

First breach class only: up to $5,000 for documented losses occurring in 2019 or later.
Second breach class only: up to $2,500 for documented losses occurring on or after April 14, 2024.
Overlap class members affected by both breaches: up to $7,500 combined.⁵

Those figures are ceilings, not guarantees. Actual amounts will be calculated pro rata after administrative costs, attorney fees, and service awards come out. Claimants whose Social Security numbers were exposed receive a higher tiered payment than those whose other data was compromised.⁶ Roughly 4.38 million claims were filed against a class of nearly 100 million eligible customers, so per-person amounts will depend on how documented-loss claims and deductions shake out.⁷

How To Check Your Claim Status

The claims deadline passed on December 18, 2025, and no new forms are being accepted.¹ If you already filed, the settlement website is the primary place to watch for updates. Kroll also offers direct contact:

Where the Case Stands in Court

Judge Brown granted preliminary approval on June 20, 2025, then extended the objection deadline from October 17 to November 17, 2025, and the response deadline to December 18, 2025.² As of October 31, 2025, only 15 objections had been filed against a class of approximately 96.7 million members, and 1,556 people had opted out. Plaintiffs’ counsel characterized the objections as posing “no obstacle to final approval.” One group of class members who tried to intervene had their appeal dismissed by the Fifth Circuit in October 2025.⁸

Also pending is roughly $59 million in requested attorney fees. The Lanier Law Firm, lead counsel for the first-breach class, asked for $49.67 million plus up to $564,792 in costs. Kopelowitz Ostrow Ferguson Weiselberg Gilbert, representing the second-breach class, sought $9.33 million plus up to $231,438 in costs.⁹ Both requests represent about one-third of their respective funds and were filed with the motion for final approval on November 3, 2025.¹⁰

Kroll’s Track Record

Kroll is one of the larger class action administrators, but its recent work has drawn scrutiny. In June 2025, a federal judge in Ohio removed Kroll as administrator of the $600 million Norfolk Southern train derailment settlement after finding the company miscalculated payments, failed to distinguish between geographic zones when issuing checks, and missed its own deadlines for sending determination letters. The court ordered a third-party audit and replaced Kroll with a competitor.¹¹

Consumer complaints add to that picture. Kroll’s Nashville Better Business Bureau profile shows 202 complaints over the past three years, with 94 closed in the most recent 12 months. Common grievances include difficulty reaching a live representative, checks arriving with incorrect names, unexplained payment delays, and claims allegedly missing from Kroll’s records.¹² None of those complaints involve the AT&T settlement, and neither the court nor the parties have raised concerns about Kroll’s work on this case. Claim review continues while the court deliberates.
