Logan Paul Lawsuit: Coffeezilla, CryptoZoo, and Prime Hydration

The Logan Paul lawsuit drawing the most attention in 2026 is his defamation case against YouTube investigator Stephen Findeisen, better known as Coffeezilla, filed in federal court in San Antonio in June 2024 and still active. The suit grew out of Findeisen’s reporting on CryptoZoo, the failed NFT project Paul promoted. A separate investor class action tied to that same project was dismissed with prejudice in October 2025. Beyond CryptoZoo, Paul’s other ventures — chiefly the Prime Hydration beverage brand — have generated their own litigation, most of it now resolved.

The Coffeezilla Defamation Suit

Paul filed Paul v. Findeisen (5:24-cv-00717) on June 27, 2024, in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, naming Findeisen and his company Coffee Break Productions LLC. The case was assigned to U.S. District Judge Orlando L. Garcia.¹

The complaint targets Findeisen’s December 2022 three-part YouTube series, “Investigating Logan Paul’s Biggest Scam,” which characterized CryptoZoo as a “rug pull.” Paul alleges Findeisen “perpetuated the false narrative that Paul scammed and defrauded his own fans” while “knowing it to be completely and utterly false, in order to enhance his own profile and increase his viewership and income.”² The suit argues Findeisen framed Paul as the fraud’s architect while omitting evidence that project advisors Eduardo Ibanez and Jake Greenbaum were the ones who profited by secretly selling large quantities of ZOO tokens. Paul has said he never sold any tokens and lost more than $1 million on the project.³

Paul also points to Findeisen’s continued accusations after the January 2024 buyback program, including a June 2023 post on X: “Logan Paul really is the type of dude to thank you when you expose his scam, then block you when you remind him to pay up.”³

Paul is seeking actual and compensatory damages above $75,000 plus punitive damages. Both sides have demanded a jury trial.³

Findeisen and Coffee Break Productions filed an answer in August 2024 denying the allegations.⁴ Findeisen has publicly called the litigation a “David vs. Goliath” fight and said the suit was filed hours before he planned to release a new exposé about another Paul venture, Liquid MarketPlace.⁵ The docket does not show that Findeisen filed an anti-SLAPP motion or a motion to dismiss. His side filed a “Plea in Abatement” in September 2024 and withdrew it within days.¹

Where the Case Stands

Discovery has been contentious. In January 2025, Paul filed a motion to compel, arguing Findeisen was withholding documents by invoking Texas’s journalist privilege. The materials Paul seeks bear directly on the “actual malice” standard that governs defamation claims involving public figures.⁶ The docket does not show a ruling on the motion as of mid-2026.¹

The original trial date of October 14, 2025, passed without a trial. As of June 2026, a hearing before Magistrate Judge Henry J. Bemporad is set for June 29, 2026, and no new trial date has been made public.⁴¹

The CryptoZoo Investor Class Action (Dismissed)

In February 2023, a group of CryptoZoo investors filed a proposed class action in Austin federal court, alleging the NFT project was a “fraudulent venture” and that the game “did not work or never existed.” The suit named Paul along with Ibanez, Greenbaum, and CryptoZoo Inc., asserting fraud, unjust enrichment, negligence, breach of contract, and consumer-protection violations.⁷

On October 29, 2025, U.S. District Judge Alan D. Albright dismissed the case with prejudice, barring the plaintiffs from refiling. The court held that Paul’s promotional statements about CryptoZoo were “puffery,” meaning “an exaggerated, blustering, and boasting statement upon which no reasonable buyer would be justified in relying.” Claims that CryptoZoo would be “a really fun game that makes you money” or was backed by a “massive team” were too vague to sustain a fraud claim.⁸

Paul responded with a 17-minute video framing the ruling as vindication. “140-plus people that were trying to sue me in the class-action lost,” he said, “because you believed a headline and you bought into this fake narrative that I’m a scammer.”⁸ The dismissal removes the underlying fraud finding Findeisen might have leaned on in the defamation case, though the ruling addressed pleading standards rather than resolving what actually happened at CryptoZoo.

Before the dismissal, in January 2024, Paul had announced a $2.3 million buyback program letting holders of “base egg” and “base animal” NFTs exchange each eligible NFT for 0.1 Ethereum, the original 2021 sale price. Hybrid animals bred through the game were excluded, and participants had to waive their right to sue Paul over CryptoZoo. The program did not cover ZOO token losses, which plaintiffs’ attorney Tom Kherkher said made up the “vast majority of financial harm.”⁷ The buyback concluded in March 2024 after distributing over $1 million in Ethereum.³

Prime Hydration Litigation

Prime Hydration, the beverage company Paul co-founded with fellow YouTuber KSI, has drawn several suits on separate theories.

A California class action, Castillo v. Prime Hydration LLC, filed in August 2023, alleged the brand’s grape sports drink contained toxic PFAS “forever chemicals” despite being marketed as healthy. The case was settled and dismissed in January 2026.⁹

A 2024 New York class action alleged Prime energy drinks contained more caffeine than advertised. U.S. District Judge Katherine Polk Failla dismissed the case with prejudice, finding the alleged discrepancy “insignificant.”¹⁰

The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee sued Prime for allegedly misrepresenting an affiliation with the Olympic Games and Team USA. That case settled in January 2025.¹¹

In August 2024, bottle supplier Refresco Beverages filed a $68 million breach-of-contract suit in Delaware Chancery Court, alleging Prime abandoned a three-year contract after consumer demand fell.¹²

Liquid MarketPlace and the Ontario Securities Commission

In June 2024, the Ontario Securities Commission filed an enforcement proceeding against Liquid MarketPlace, a Toronto fractional-ownership collectibles platform Paul co-founded in 2021. The OSC described the startup as a “multi-layered fraud,” alleging that executives Ryan Bahadori, Amin Nikdel, and Dennis Domazet misappropriated roughly $3 million of more than $10 million raised, moving funds through shell companies and spending nearly $500,000 on personal luxury expenses. The OSC also alleged the sale of $2.7 million in unregistered securities. Paul was not named in the proceeding.¹³¹⁴

Other Resolved Matters

In September 2025, Paul obtained a temporary restraining order against Heritage Auctions over an 8-by-8-foot section of Michael Jordan-signed United Center floor he had won at auction for $562,555, alleging he was denied a chance to authenticate the item before paying. After his team inspected the floor in Dallas and could not confirm its provenance, Paul dropped the case, which was dismissed without prejudice.¹⁵

A $3 million suit filed in 2020 by Planeless Pictures, which had contracted Paul to write and produce the film Airplane Mode before his 2017 video from Japan’s Aokigahara forest ended the project, was settled in May 2024. Financial terms were not disclosed.¹⁶
