MCAG Settlement Recovery: Costs, Active Cases, and Enrollment

MCAG settlement recovery is a service run by Managed Care Advisory Group, a Toledo, Ohio firm that monitors class action settlements, files claims on behalf of enrolled businesses, and takes a percentage of whatever it recovers. The company has operated since 2003, reports more than $500 million in recoveries, and works primarily with hospitals and healthcare systems, though its client base spans other industries as well.1MCAG. What MCAG Does for a Business

When a class action settles, eligible class members only receive money if they file a claim. Businesses miss these filings constantly, either because they never hear about the settlement or because the paperwork gets buried. MCAG positions itself as the intermediary that watches for new settlements, flags the ones a client qualifies for, prepares and submits the claim, works with the court-appointed settlement administrator on verification, and then distributes the net proceeds.2MCAG. The company does not file lawsuits. It works only with settlements that have already been reached.3The Coalition. Settlement Recovery Services It is also not a law firm and not a court-appointed settlement administrator, a distinction MCAG makes in its own materials.2MCAG. MCAG KHA Presentation Much of the work depends on data: through partnerships with healthcare IT vendors, payment card processors, and law firms, MCAG says it has access to records for more than 6.5 million businesses, which it uses to confirm eligibility and build claims even when a client’s own files are incomplete.4MCAG.
