MyChart Lawsuit Settlements: Who Qualifies and How to File

If you logged into a hospital’s MyChart portal during a covered period, you may be entitled to a payment from a MyChart lawsuit settlement, and filing a claim usually takes a few minutes online with the unique ID printed on the notice you received by mail or email. Several settlements have already closed, but claim windows for Kaiser, St. Joseph Hospital of Nashua, Catholic Health, Legacy Health, and Adena Health remain open into 2026, with payouts ranging from $15 to $50 plus, in some cases, a year of privacy monitoring.

Who Qualifies

Eligibility in every one of these cases turns on the same basic question: did you log into the named hospital’s MyChart portal (or in a few cases, its website or mobile app) during the class period defined by that specific settlement? If yes, you qualify. You generally do not need to prove your data was actually shared with Meta or Google, and you do not need to show any specific harm. The class definition does the work.

Class periods vary case by case. Kaiser’s window runs from November 2017 through May 2024. Catholic Health’s covers January 2020 through December 2025. St. Joseph Hospital of Nashua covers users from January 2023 onward. If you were a patient at one of these systems but never used the online portal during the covered dates, you are not a class member.

How to File a Claim

Most people first learn they are eligible through a mailed or emailed notice from the settlement administrator. That notice carries two things you need: a unique claimant ID and a PIN. Keep it.

You have two ways to file:

  • Online through the settlement website. Log in with your unique ID and PIN, confirm your contact information, and choose how you want to be paid. This is the faster option and usually takes under five minutes.
  • By mail. Download the claim form from the settlement website, print it, fill it out, and mail it to the settlement administrator so it is postmarked by the deadline.

When you file, you will typically be asked to pick a payment method. The default is a paper check, but many of these settlements now offer digital payment through PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle.1SSM Health Data Settlement. Some settlements bundle in a period of privacy monitoring (CyEx Privacy Shield, Dashlane, or Medical Shield Complete, depending on the case) alongside or instead of cash. If monitoring is part of your settlement, the notice will include a separate enrollment code and instructions.

Settlements Still Accepting Claims

These are the MyChart pixel settlements with open or recently open filing windows.

Kaiser Foundation Health Plan. The largest of the group. The fund is $46 million and could grow to $47.5 million, covering current and former Kaiser members in multiple states who accessed certain Kaiser websites or mobile apps between November 2017 and May 2024. St. Joseph Hospital of Nashua, N.H. Covers anyone who used a St. Joseph Hospital MyChart account from January 2023 onward. Payout is $50, no proof required. Claim deadline is August 14, 2026; final approval hearing is scheduled for September 14, 2026. Catholic Health System. Two subclasses. Patients who logged into the CHS MyChart portal between January 2020 and December 2025 can claim up to $20. Other patients from that same period are eligible for 12 months of Dashlane privacy monitoring instead. Claim deadline was April 10, 2026; final approval hearing was April 23, 2026. Case: J.C. v. Legacy Health. Covers patients who registered for or logged into the Legacy Health patient portal between February 2019 and February 2024. Payment is $15 plus a year of Medical Shield Complete monitoring. The settlement has received final approval, and enrollment codes for the monitoring service are active through September 14, 2026. Adena Health. Covers roughly 82,000 patients who logged into the Adena patient portal between November 2022 and June 2024. Payment is $21 plus a year of CyEx Privacy Shield monitoring. Settlements That Have Already Closed

If you were a patient at one of the following systems, the claim deadline has passed. You can still verify whether you filed and, if so, check on distribution status through the administrator’s website.

Practical Points That Trip People Up

A few things worth knowing before, during, and after you file.

Paper checks expire. They typically become void 180 days after issuance. Cash yours as soon as it arrives.17ClassAction.org. SSM Health Class Action Settlement

Update your address if you move. After you file, if your mailing address changes, you need to notify the settlement administrator in writing. Otherwise your check may go to the old address and you may not get a replacement.14Mercy Health Settlement. Frequently Asked Questions

Understand what you give up. Staying in the class and accepting the settlement releases your right to sue that hospital over the same conduct. If you think your individual damages are larger than the settlement payout, you can opt out by the exclusion deadline stated in the notice and pursue your own case. Opting out means you receive nothing from the settlement.

Watch for the notice email or letter. Some administrators send both. Look for the sender name (Kroll and CyEx are two you will see across these cases) and check the class period against your own MyChart use before assuming it’s spam.

What These Settlements Don’t Cover

These are individual settlements against the hospitals, not against Meta. The consolidated federal case against Meta itself, In re Meta Pixel Healthcare Litigation (N.D. Cal.), is separate. On March 30, 2026, Judge P. Casey Pitts denied class certification in that case, finding that identifying affected individuals would require burdensome individualized inquiries.18Gibson Dunn. One more caveat: the Northwell Health pixel settlement received a final approval order on April 23, 2026, but a notice of appeal has been filed, and payments are on hold until that appeal is resolved.19NW Pixel Settlement. If your hospital isn’t listed here, that doesn’t necessarily mean no case exists. A 2022 investigation found that one-third of the top 100 U.S. hospitals were transmitting visitor data, including protected health information, to third parties through tracking code, and as of 2024, 33 percent of analyzed healthcare organizations were still running Meta Pixel.20HIPAA Journal. If you get a notice from a settlement administrator naming a hospital where you were a patient, read it carefully before discarding it.
