Numotion Data Incidents Settlement: $15,000 Claims and Credit Monitoring

The Numotion data breach settlement is a $4 million class action resolution covering people notified that their information was exposed in either the March 2024 ransomware attack or the September 2024 phishing incident affecting United Seating and Mobility, LLC. Class members can receive two years of free credit monitoring automatically, reimbursement of up to $15,000 for documented losses, and a pro rata share of what remains in the fund. A final approval hearing is set for April 2, 2026 in federal court in Nashville.¹

Who Qualifies

The settlement class includes all living people in the United States who received a notice from Numotion about either the March 2024 or September 2024 data incidents. Both current and former customers and employees are covered.² The class exceeds one million people.³

There is also a Social Security Settlement Subclass for members whose Social Security numbers were involved in the breaches. Those individuals qualify for an additional benefit on top of the standard ones.¹

What You Can Claim

Free Credit Monitoring (Automatic)

Every class member automatically receives two years of CyEx Identity Defense Plus at no cost. No claim form is required. The service covers credit monitoring, monthly credit score reports, dark web monitoring, real-time inquiry alerts, and $1 million in identity theft insurance with no deductible. Numotion pays for this benefit separately from the $4 million fund.⁴

Up to $15,000 for Out-of-Pocket Losses

Class members can claim reimbursement for documented expenses traceable to the breaches, including costs tied to identity theft, fraud, credit repair, and professional services. Claims must be supported by receipts or similar documentation; handwritten records alone are not sufficient.⁵

Pro Rata Cash Payment

Class members who submit a valid claim form also receive a share of whatever remains in the net settlement fund after out-of-pocket reimbursements and administrative expenses are paid. The exact amount depends on how many valid claims are filed.¹

Medical Shield (Social Security Subclass Only)

Members whose Social Security numbers were compromised can claim two years of CyEx Medical Shield Pro by filing a claim and providing an email address.¹

Deadlines and Where Things Stand

Judge Aleta A. Trauger granted preliminary approval on December 3, 2025. The main claim and objection deadlines have already passed:³

Opt-out and objection deadline: March 3, 2026.¹
Claim filing deadline: March 18, 2026.¹
Final approval hearing: April 2, 2026 at 2:30 p.m. CT.¹

Benefits will only be paid out after the court grants final approval and any appeals are resolved.⁵ The settlement is not an admission of liability by Numotion.⁶

Which Incidents This Covers

The settlement resolves claims from two separate 2024 breaches. The first ran from February 29 to March 2, 2024, when the Black Basta ransomware group accessed Numotion’s network and exfiltrated data. That incident affected more than 600,000 people.⁷

The second was a phishing attack between September 2 and November 18, 2024, in which an unauthorized person accessed employee email accounts. Numotion confirmed on January 22, 2025 that customer information had been compromised, with roughly 494,000 to 529,000 additional people affected.⁸²

Exposed information varied by person and included names, dates of birth, payment and financial account information, health insurance details, medical information, and in some cases Social Security numbers and driver’s license numbers.⁸
