The Deadline and Your Other Options
September 29, 2025 is the deadline to file a claim. It is also the deadline to request exclusion from the settlement or file a written objection.{5Angeion Group. Doe v. Childrens Hospital Medical Center of Akron, Long Form Notice} Exclusion requests and objections must be mailed to the settlement administrator at P.O. Box 58220, Philadelphia, PA 19102.
Filing a claim keeps you in the class and gives up your right to sue the hospital over the tracking conduct covered by the release. Excluding yourself preserves your right to sue but forfeits the $19 and the identity protection. Objecting lets you stay in the class and tell the court why you think the settlement should not be approved. Doing nothing means you receive no payment and are still bound by the release.
When Payments Will Be Sent
The court granted preliminary approval on July 18, 2025, and a final approval hearing was scheduled for October 10, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Summit County Court of Common Pleas in Akron, Ohio.{5Angeion Group. Even after approval, payments do not go out immediately. The settlement notice warns that any appeals must be resolved first, a process it says could take a year or more.{5Angeion Group. Doe v. Childrens Hospital Medical Center of Akron, Long Form Notice} File by the deadline regardless; the wait between filing and payment is standard for class action settlements of this kind.
