Quinshon Judkins Allegations: Arrest, Dropped Charges, NFL Review

The allegations against Quinshon Judkins began with a July 12, 2025 arrest in Fort Lauderdale on misdemeanor battery and domestic violence charges, were dropped a month later when Broward County prosecutors found “no reasonable likelihood of conviction,” and remain the subject of an open NFL personal conduct policy review. The Cleveland Browns running back, taken 36th overall in the 2025 draft, has not faced any formal criminal charge in the matter.1ESPN. Browns Quinshon Judkins Will Not Face Formal Battery Charge

What the Woman Alleged

According to the Fort Lauderdale police arrest report, the alleged incident took place on July 7, 2025, after Judkins and the woman left Fort Lauderdale International Airport in a rental car. The woman told police Judkins became frustrated after reading text messages on her phone and punched her in the mouth and chin area with a closed fist. She said he pulled over, she got out and called his mother without saying what happened, and after she returned to the back seat he turned around while driving and struck her left arm and thigh as the argument continued. Officers noted visible bruising on her chin, arm, and thigh.2CBS Sports. Browns Rookie RB Quinshon Judkins Arrested, Faces Battery Charge After Alleged Domestic Violence Incident

She did not report the incident for five days. On July 12, she went to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department’s temporary headquarters and called 911, telling the dispatcher she was “still in pain” and had “visible bruises and evidence on my body of the event.” Asked why she had not called sooner, she said, “I thought that we could work through it, and obviously we couldn’t, so I’m trying to do the right thing now.”3New York Post. The Arrest and Bond Hearing

Judkins was arrested that same day and booked into the Broward County jail. The next morning, a judge found probable cause, set bond at $2,500, and ordered him to have no contact with the woman and no access to firearms.5NBC Miami. Defense attorney David S. Weinstein told the court the two had previously been in a relationship and traveled to South Florida “as friends.” He said the woman stayed with Judkins in Fort Lauderdale for five days after the alleged incident and that they celebrated her birthday during that time. He also questioned the timing of the photographed bruising, saying “there’s no proof as to when those bruises took place, when the photos were taken.”6CBS News Miami. Why Prosecutors Dropped the Case

On August 14, 2025, the Broward County State Attorney’s Office issued a decline memorandum formally ending the case. The assistant state attorney cited several reasons for finding “no reasonable likelihood of conviction”:

  • No surveillance video captured the alleged incident.
  • No independent witnesses were present.
  • The woman waited five days to report, despite having the opportunity and resources to call sooner.
  • Photos of bruising conflicted with other videos from the same time period that showed no visible injuries, and the memorandum concluded the injuries “could be explained by either account of the incident.”7CNN. Prosecutors reached that conclusion after reviewing police reports, body-worn camera footage, video surveillance, photos, phone records, and the woman’s sworn statement.1ESPN. Browns Quinshon Judkins Will Not Face Formal Battery Charge

The NFL Investigation

The league opened its own review under the personal conduct policy shortly after the arrest, and a spokesman confirmed in mid-August that “we have been following developments in the matter which remains under review.”8NFL.com. The dropped criminal case does not end the league inquiry. The NFL’s personal conduct policy, revised after the Ray Rice scandal in 2014, sets a baseline six-game unpaid suspension for a first violation involving domestic violence, assault, or battery, with that baseline adjustable up or down for aggravating or mitigating circumstances. The policy explicitly states that “even if your conduct does not result in a criminal conviction,” discipline can follow if the league finds the player engaged in prohibited conduct.10NFL.com. Where Things Stand Now

As of mid-2026, no resolution of the NFL’s personal conduct review has been publicly announced, and no further legal proceedings tied to the allegations have been reported. Judkins is a full participant in Browns minicamp as he recovers from the ankle surgery that ended his rookie year, and is on track to be Cleveland’s primary ball carrier in 2026.16Cleveland.com.
