One week after the livestream, Kardashian and Jenner filed suit through the firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan. The $6 Million Settlement Now Exposed
Underneath the defamation fight sits a confidential deal from April 2023. Kardashian, Jenner, Ray J, and Ray J’s mother Sonja Norwood signed an agreement under which Kardashian and Jenner would pay Ray J $6 million in installments: $3 million within 30 days, $1 million by April 2024, $1 million by April 2025, and a final $1 million due in 2026.8TMZ. The terms became public because a judge refused to keep them sealed. On March 30, 2026, Judge Steven A. Ray J’s Countersuit
Ray J filed a cross-complaint for breach of contract on November 13, 2025. The dispute also reopened the older question of how the 2007 tape came out in the first place. Ray J has long claimed the release was orchestrated by Kim and Kris. Where the Case Stands
Ray J moved to dismiss the defamation suit under California’s anti-SLAPP statute, which allows early dismissal of lawsuits targeting protected speech. In a December 2025 filing, his attorney Howard King argued the RICO comments were not meant as factual assertions and cast Ray J as an online “troll” generating discourse rather than committing slander.18Billboard.
