Robert Andre Ross Charged in Wife’s Murder: West Virginia Arrest

Robert Andre Ross, 50, is charged with murder in the death of his wife, Ashley Ross, who was found dead in the couple’s Alliance, Ohio, home on May 13, 2026. Ross fled after the killing and was arrested that same afternoon by U.S. Marshals during a traffic stop on Interstate 68 in West Virginia. He was extradited to Stark County, arraigned on May 18, and is being held on a $5 million bond while the case is bound over to a grand jury.¹

What Happened in Alliance

Ashley Ross, 38, was found dead in a bedroom of her home on West Ely Street in Alliance around 7:00 a.m. on May 13, 2026, after her children called 911.² Police estimated the killing occurred between May 12 and May 13. She had been shot and also had traumatic injuries to her arms and head.³

Alliance Police Chief Aken-Ra X said the scene made the conclusion straightforward, telling reporters “it’s quite obvious to us that it’s a homicide.”⁴ Police did not say whether a firearm was recovered from Ross at the time of his arrest.⁵

The Arrest in West Virginia

Alliance investigators identified Ross as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant for murder, but he had already left Ohio.² The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force passed information to U.S. Marshals in the Northern District of West Virginia indicating Ross could be near Morgantown.⁶

Officers spotted his vehicle near a Lowe’s on Venture Drive in Morgantown, followed him onto Interstate 68, and pulled him over just after 4:00 p.m. on May 13. He was arrested without incident and held without bond at the North Central Regional Jail pending extradition.⁷

Charges, Bond, and Case Status

Ross waived extradition and was booked into the Stark County Jail on May 15, 2026.³ At his May 18 arraignment in Alliance Municipal Court, a judge set bond at $5 million and bound the case over to a Stark County grand jury.¹ No indictment or further court proceedings have been publicly reported as of the most recent coverage.

Prior Domestic Violence Record

Stark County court records reviewed by the Canton Repository show Ross had been convicted of domestic violence at least three times since 1997. His most recent conviction, in 2009, was a felony involving a different victim and resulted in probation and community service.³

Friends of Ashley Ross told Cleveland 19 News they had been urging her to leave the relationship in the days before her death because they were worried about her safety.¹

Who Ashley Ross Was

Ashley Ross was 38 and a mother of four. Friends described her as an “amazing mother” who was generous with her own children and others.¹ The investigation is being led by the Alliance Police Department with assistance from the Stark County Sheriff’s Office and the Stark County Coroner’s Office.⁸
